Rome is suppressing the Latin Mass and Traditional Sacraments in the Archdiocese of Toronto

The Holy (?) See in consultation with the Archdiocese of Toronto has determined that the weekly Sunday Latin Masses celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul and Holy Family will no longer continue - in accordance with "Traditionis Custodes".The agreement determined (we have NO written document as of this writing issued by either Rome or Toronto) that both parishes are now required to celebrate one Novus Ordo per month.

Accordingly, commencing next Sunday, September 20th, at St. Vincent's there will be an English Novus Ordo. Holy Family will have a Latin Novus Ordo for following week. Presumably the intent is to stagger the liturgies. I was also informed that this follows on earlier activity this year in which the Romans de facto suppressed the Mass in Schomberg and Scarborough, reducing it to once a month.

I myself, will be attending the Church of the Transfiguration on Sunday's when the Latin Mass is not available at my own parish.

I can tell you, dear readers, this was the first time I experienced what was akin to a kick in the stomach at Mass. And, I told one of the priests after Mass of this experience. Priests need to be made aware of the deep hurt that Catholics feel when they are so bitterly and viciously persecuted by heartless modernist clericalists who occupy the now "Unholy" See.

Here we are with rife apostasy and heresy, with abortion and euthanasia rampant - and what concerns the Romans ? - the suppression of the Latin Mass. And not only the Mass, but the sacraments as well. Commencing immediately - there will be NO traditionally administered sacraments. Funerals, Weddings, and Baptisms - all suppressed.

Concern for the liturgy? No. If it were concern for the liturgy, where is the concern for stopping the innumerable abuses, even abominations in the Novus Ordo? No. What concerns the Romans is denying faithful Catholics a funneral, a wedding, a baptism in rites that were not "revised" for "modern man". Denying faithful Catholics the rites handed down to us by our ancestors over the centuries is their concern, not stopping apostasy and heresy.

Please pray for the priests in Toronto who are under the Roman hammer - they did not look happy. Please pray for Cardinal Leo who at least kept the Romans at bay for over a year with "consultations". And hardest of all - please pray for the conversion of the Romans. The "Unholy" See is infested with evil. Pray they repent.

St.Michael, Patron of the Archdiocese of Toronto pray for us.

Where was the consultation with the faithful? There was none and yet these same bishops want a “synodal” church. The TLM at Holy Family has been flourishing. The average parishioner is young and there are families that drive in from far away. They don’t need to be re-educated to accept the Novus Ordo because the TLM doesn’t need to be replaced. There should have been push back against any attempt to implement the hateful and ideological decree of Traditores Custodes.

I was at St. Vincent’s and heard the announcement. Until yesterday, I thought this was something that had happened only to "other dioceses". Toronto is a large city, and the number of Latin Masses relative to other cities of comparable size is rather paltry. Based on the attendance figures provided by Vox Cantoris this morning, there are perhaps 1,200 regular attendees.

I now have to question whether the entity occupying Rome is, in fact, the OHCA Church. Some have referred to this institution as the Church of Vatican II, the Conciliar Church, the Church of the New Advent, or the Synodal Church. After all the abuses that have occurred, particularly since Francis, I seriously question whether they represent the Catholic Church or are merely usurpers. As far as the sacraments are concerned, I assume they are valid; whether they are licit is another matter. It seems only a matter of time before the Latin Mass is eliminated entirely in Toronto.

Up until yesterday, perhaps I had cognitive dissonance on this issue or just gave Rome the benefit of the doubt. I pray to God for discernment going forward.

Alas, as is typical with modernist clericalists, there is no cosultation with the lay faithful. As to what we can do, the only thing modernists love more than heresy is money. Leo shuld have told Roche (at the tratorria back inJune ? to "pound sand"). What would - as Vox Cantoris noted on his blog - would Leo be discussing with Roche? Well, two months later we found out.

This is going in the wrong direction. The pastoral action would be to increase the number of TLMs in the Archdiocese given how large and populated it is. It smacks of a purge, frankly. Modern(ist) Church leadership is othering TLM faithful while talking synodality. Ask for a fish, get a snake.

Any chance the consultations/meetings included had any conversation about demographics or race at the TLM vs Novus Ordo? I remember hearing that this was one of the angles the “powers that be” were exploring in order to elicit the outcome we are now seeing.

I am passing along this information in the spirit of charity. It comes from Rorate Caeli.

As announced from the pulpit in a prepared statement, in lieu of the homily on the 16th Sunday after Pentecost: Traditionis Custodes is taking effect at Toronto Oratory parishes effective immediately, including the Modern Roman Rite Mass replacing the Sunday Traditional Latin Mass on successive Sundays once a month at each parish.

The Toronto Oratory operates two parishes: St. Vincent de Paul Parish (263 Roncesvalles Ave.), and Holy Family Parish (1372 King St. West).

St. Vincent de Paul Parish has one TLM a week, a Missa Lecta on Sundays at 9:30am; its first monthly restriction is to happen next Sunday on September 20th, to be replaced by an English-language Mass "celebrated at the high altar in the Oratory way." As it stands, the parish already has Sunday morning Modern Roman Rite Masses in English at 8:30am and 11am (the latter with music).

Holy Family Parish has had an 11am Sunday TLM Missa Solemnis for several years, now replaced once a month for a Latin Modern Roman Rite Mass versus populum, starting on September 27th; no mention was made of the parish's daily Traditional Latin Mass being affected, though the announcement noted that St. Vincent de Paul parishioners seeking Sunday refuge at Holy Family are advised that the Holy Family 11am Sunday TLM is already standing room only.

One other note mentioned in the Sunday announcement is that other Sacraments in the Traditional Roman Liturgy - Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals being mentioned by name - are proscribed going forward with only existing (i.e. already scheduled) requests being permitted.

Saints Benedict and Pius X, pray for us!
