The 2015 Electoral Guide issued by the CCCB is a betrayal of the unborn and the family ~ they do not even use the word "abortion"

"We must obey God, rather than men"
(Acts 5, 29)

It is a sad thing when bishops fail in their duty to be the moral teachers of their flock. It is tragic to see bishops un-canonically handing over their authority to a faceless committee. The "Episcopal Commission of Justice and Peace" has issued another useless "Electoral Guide" for Catholics for the upcoming Federal election this Fall. It is simply pathetic when compared to the "Three Non-Negotiables" of Pope Benedict XVI. The Pope taught that Life, from conception to natural death, is the nexus point of all other rights; from this primary right flows the rights of true marriage and the family, and then authentic human freedom. To the contrary, the Guide offers no hierarchy of truths; rather three pages of numerous items of differing importance.

The Pope of the Family
How do they approach abortion, the very first non-negotiable, what the Second Vatican Council called an "abominable crime" (Gaudium et Spes, 51)? They do so in the following evasive manner:

"demanding the right to life for even the smallest among us - the human embryo and foetus - since they too belong to the human family..."

That is it. The word "abortion" is not even mentioned. The term "unborn child" or "babies" is not mentioned. They could not even bring themselves to use the word "child", but settled for the sterile term beloved of abortion advocates - foetus.

No mention in this Guide that up  to 100,000 babies are butchered each year in Canada, no mention that we have partial birth abortion in this country, no mention that abortion mills proliferate, no mention of sin, no mention that it is an unspeakable crime, no  invocation of Our Blessed Lord to guide voters, to convert hearts of sinful politicians....

The Guide proceeds to follow a type of perverted "seamless garment" proposal (for there is the true one as proposed by the Popes: all contingent on the sacredness of innocent life). Not once do the Guide's authors remind us and emphasize that all rights stand or fall on the right to life. The Church teaches that the entire State's morality and existence stands on its absolute duty to defend all innocent human life; to enact legislation accordingly. The moral duty to resist evil law is not mentioned. Contrast all of this evasiveness to words of the Catechism of the Catholic Church  against the evil of abortion.

Compare their obscenely weak statement to the words of St. Pope John Paul II from Evangelium Vitae:

Among all the crimes which can be committed against life, procured abortion has characteristics making it particularly serious and deplorable. The Second Vatican Council defines abortion, together with infanticide, as an "unspeakable crime".

But today, in many people's consciences, the perception of its gravity has become progressively obscured. The acceptance of abortion in the popular mind, in behaviour and even in law itself, is a telling sign of an extremely dangerous crisis of the moral sense, which is becoming more and more incapable of distinguishing between good and evil, even when the fundamental right to life is at stake. ...

...The moral gravity of procured abortion is apparent in all its truth if we recognize that we are dealing with murder and, in particular, when we consider the specific elements involved. The one eliminated is a human being at the very beginning of life. No one more absolutely innocent could be imagined. In no way could this human being ever be considered an aggressor, much less an unjust aggressor! He or she is weak, defenceless, even to the point of lacking that minimal form of defence consisting in the poignant power of a newborn baby's cries and tears. The unborn child is totally entrusted to the protection and care of the woman carrying him or her in the womb...

Pope John Paul II betrayed by the wolves
Notice the holy Pope's sense of urgency, alarm. None of this exists in the committee generated, bland, confusing and, objectively evil Guide. But the betrayal of the late Pope is becoming increasingly known. Archbishop Henryk Hoser a few months ago told us plainly: they have betrayed Pope John Paul II: "...the pastoral practice also betrayed Pope John Paul II because they did not follow his voice, they did not acquaint themselves with his teachings".

This three page Guide (confusingly mixing discretely inserted absolute moral non-negotiables along with lesser social evils) is a betrayal. A horrible, grotesque betrayal. Of Christ, His Church, the unborn and families - and a number of holy bishops whom I know oppose this evil. It demonstrates everything that is wrong in the Church in Canada. No strong, credible Gospel of Life stand, no mention of the plague of the intrinsic evils of contraception, pornography, divorce and perverted sexuality (including the horror of "same-sex marriage") that are fueling the destruction of the family and society. Compare this Guide to the useless 2011 Guide. They are virtually identical. The bitter fruit of the 2011 Guide was the continued moral decimation of Canada, and there will be no change, except in the acceleration of the collapse of this country. Our Lord Himself spoke of those being neither hot nor cold, and that He would vomit them from His mouth (c.f. Rev 3:16). Well, we see the vomit.

I would like to include some of this post in an article about the pro-life position in this federal election for the NB Daily Star, an online news source for New Brunswick.

Could I please have the name and title of the person who wrote this post?

Thank you.

Your analysis should be read from every pulpit, do you mind if I print it out and distribute it? What is wrong with some of our Bishops? This is truly an atrocity ! It seems sin is no longer a sin, I cannot believe they called an innocent, helpless human being a fetus, that is disgraceful...if our bishops do not have the conscience to defend life (even if they put their own life at risk) how are they followers of Christ ?

Yes the US Conference of Catholic Bishops have misled us numerous times in recent history on the issue of abortion. We think they told pro-life Democrats to vote for Obamacare because they thought they had an air-tight guarantee from Anti-Truth Obama there would be no abortion in it. What stupidity.

It's a wonder that the faith has been preserved unaltered for 2,000 years. It is a sign that Christ keeps His promises. He promised to be with the Church until the end of time. That's why when people start speculating about anti-popes, I really don't think there ever will be such a thing -- maybe a false pope and a true pope, but not an anti pope. I was reading the history of the sede-vacanists and they think the true pope was Gregory in 1958 and he was forced out illegally, and then John the XXIII elected. My husband's parents were radical faithful Catholics in the 1950s and if such a thing had happened they would have been up in arms. I guess the story is based on one day when the smoke came out black and white. LOL. Supposedly Gregory went off and APPOINTED his successor. :) I told one young sede-vacanist, "So where is the real pope now, under your bed?"

Seriously, I hope Canadians read you blog and ignore whatever the bishops say on the matter, but unfortunately, my experience is that local bishops are quite capable of confusing the laity. This is the age of the laity. We must be informed! When the Shepherds fail to protect the people, God sends out the sheep dogs. SheepDogsRUs! God bless you. Susan Fox www.christsfaithfulwitness.com
