The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is officially "celebrating" Martin Luther and his so-called "Reformation". There was no celebration or mention of "Reformation Sunday" (truth to tell Deformation Sunday) where I went to Mass today. Indeed, why as the priest told me would anyone celebrate a divorce?
Apparently, the Canadian Bishops feel there is reason to celebrate. Noted scholar on Lutheranism, Fr. Thaddeus Guz, Professor of Philosophy at the Catholic University of Lublin has stated bluntly and truthfully that any celebration of the "Reformation" by a Catholic is an act of the "highest apostasy". Rightly does Fr. Guz denounce those as those celebrating as "either is, or is their way into heresy, there is no alternative." Fr Guz stated that those who celebrate are "a traitor to the Gospels, and the very God and the Church".
Friends. How can the Bishops of Canada celebrate a man whom the Church has always regarded as a precusor to the Antichrist? Just which Luther are these bishops celebrating? Luther the Apostate? Luther the Heretic? Luther the Mass Hater? Luther the Destroyer of Christendom?
Or, could it be: Luther the Father of Nationalism? Luther the Father of Liberalism? Luther the Father of Communism? Luther the Father of Nazism?
Perhaps they are celebrating Luther the Misogynist? Luther the Vulgarian? Luther the Drunkard? Luther the Jew Hater?
Friends, just what is there about Martin Luther to celebrate? When you find something, let me know.
