Vatican Insider on the Islamist Riots

Giacomo Galeazzi of Vatican Insider on the recent Islamist riots:

... Vatican Insider has learnt that it is fundamentalist Muslims who are putting the responsibility on the backs of the local Christian minority. The film director is an Israeli-American  living in California, who got together the five million dollars raised from the contributions of about a hundred Jewish donors, mostly from the U.S. The director apparently distributed the film with the help of a radical Christian association and one Christian Copt, who shares the association’s aversion to Islam. The Coptic Church has nothing to do with the film which is inflaming the Muslim world, to the extent that Christian religious leaders have been forced to speak out against the film, condemning certain provocative aspects of the film which reference to religious symbols.

Here's how this went down in little corner of the world. I first heard news reports of riots and attacks on embassies but was unsure as to the cause. Then I discovered it was in response to some film I had never heard of and which would have died in obscurity had it not been the cause of deaths and riots. Someone is doing a bang up job of mob manipulation and targeted provocation to incite a war which no one with an ounce of common sense wants.

Yes, the timing is indeed interesting. Riots have now spread to various countries. My understanding is that this film has been out for some months now. Similar situation to the Muhommed cartoon business.

Also interesting that the riots have been stimulated just prior to the Pope's visit to Lebanon...

Apparently this film had little or no impact until someone dubbed it into Arabic and posted it back on YouTube. It was picked up by a Coptic Christian known for his hostility towards Islam and posted on his blog. Targeted provocation and mob manipulation...

I think we also have to get back to the point as to Islamist reaction. Apparently, the real cause was a 9/11 protest evolving around the clamor for the release of thew "blind sheik" Rahman ; mastermind of the 1993 bombings in NYC.

It would seem that the Arabic translations were actually put up by Islamists to incite the Arab mobs; hence, youtube's pulling of the video.

At the end of the day we have to stand back and say that freedom of speech exists, we do have the right to insult each other. Hell, we insult each other all the time on this blog and so far no one has taken up the cudgel.
