125 Days and Counting on the Archdiocese of Toronto's Holy Communion "Ban"

Today marks 125 days since the Archdiocese of Toronto banned the reception of Holy Communion according to ordinary form. Its canonical illegality has been much discussed, and this post is but a reminder and a prediction.

A Reminder

 

On March 17, 2020 all Masses were banned in the Archdiocese. From downtown Toronto to little hamlets, two hours drive and more away, every church was boarded up. A small, but dynamic group of Christians during this time began to petition the Ontario government to reopen churches. It is VERY significant that the Archdiocese of Toronto was NOT part of this group.

When churches were reopened with limited capacity, Toronto Public Health (under the authority of Toronto City Council, via the Toronto Board of Health) officials de facto overthrew (via threats of church closure) the local supreme authority in the Catholic Church (Cardinal Collins) and have assumed control over Catholic religious/liturgical practice by unconstitutionally encroaching on religious practice and "banning" Holy Communion on the tongue.

A Prediction: We are not going to see Toronto Public Health's illegal edict lifted until a vaccine or vaccines are produced. This effectively means that many of us will not be able to fulfill our Easter Duty. We are absolved of this Duty, as the pastors of the Church are bound by the Law of the Church to give Holy Communion to any Catholic in the State of Grace who requests it. I hope I am wrong in my prediction, but don't think I will be. It may well be that some of us will not be able to receive Holy Communion for well over a year...perhaps even longer.

Please pray for Cardinal Collins, our bishops, priests that they stand up for Christ, His Church, and the God-given rights of Catholics.

Please also pray for those Christians who are not in full unity with the See of Peter, but are standing up for Christ. Russian Orthodox Archbishop Kirill of San Francisco wrote a powerful Letter to Governor Gavin Newsom stating that his new violent measures against religion were eerily similar to those of the Soviet Union.

The Archbishop noted that Newsom's actions are "...open discrimination, hypocrisy and the infringement of our religious rights, prompting us to recall the era of godless persecutions in the USSR". Newsom has yet to reply to the Archbishop. Has your bishop taken a stand?

Another interesting case is that of "Pastor" John MacArthur of Sun Valley, California who defied the draconian measures of Newsom last Sunday and kept his church open. He faces the real possibility of going to jail. He is 81 years of age. MacArthur certainly is a heretic, but at least he believes enough in the Divinity of Our Lord to stand against an unjust edict that violates Christ's Law. Has your bishop shown faith in Our Lord's Divinity to stand publicly against unjust edicts, to even risk going to jail?

We, as Catholics must take as our models the martyrs, the defenders of the Faith. Let us recall the Japanese Catholics, who, without priests and under severe persecution from the State held the Faith for hundreds of years. They must be our example.

Showing this video does not mean that I agree with everything in it. I do NOT. There is at present absolutely NO evidence that hydroxychloroquine heals from COVID-19. Evidence is emerging that it may work as a prophylactic and may prevent the development of  COVID in EARLY stages. But that is NOT a cure.

Stella Emmanuel detracted from the quality of the video by claiming that she has "cured" over 300 COVID patients. Science demands evidence. You cannot just make a claim. She must produce the evidence. Indeed, if this combination was a cure do we not think that Pfizer would be out there promoting the Z-Pac for all as a prophylactic?

For all this should the video be BANNED? Absolutely not.

In doing so, Youtube only furthers the politicization of the virus, and exacerbates irrationality, fear, conflict, and lack of critical thinking.

On the other hand, perhaps they pulled it for those VERY REASONS?

And while "they" were busy banning the video, "they" took down the "America's Frontline Doctors" website.

Protestants defend Catholics, whilst Bishops remain SILENT

We are living in revolutionary times. In the United States, as I have written before, a communist revolution is underway. This revolution has been simmering for decades. It is Jacobin inspired that seeks the complete destruction of Christianity. The hidden hand that controls this movement is very much aware that the first enemy is the Catholic Church. And when they have finished with the Catholic Church....

It is tragic, but not surprising that the American Catholic Hierarchy has distinguished itself by a near virtual silence on the demonically inspired attacks on Catholic churches and Statues.

But not all are silent. Here we present two separated brethren who are strongly exposing and denouncing these vicious attacks.

Toronto Public Health's attack on Religious Freedom: "SUSPEND all communion related activities..."

We have written and commented on the illegal and unconstitutional activities of Toronto Public Health (itself an appendage of the Board of Health, as appointed by the leftist Toronto City Council). Toronto Public Health does not have the authority to impose a ban on Holy Communion. In fact, its own Guidelines refer back to the Guidelines issued by Ontario Public Health (which it, in turn must be interpreted according the Law, O. Reg. 52/20). The Law is specific: 

Indoor wedding, funeral or religious service, rite or ceremony

6. (1) This section applies with respect to gatherings for the purposes of a wedding, a funeral or a religious service, rite or ceremony if the gathering is held in a building or structure other than a private dwelling.

(2) Clause 2 (1) (c) does not apply to a person who attends a gathering to which this section applies if the following conditions are met:

1. The persons conducting the wedding, funeral, service, rite or ceremony must ensure that the number of persons occupying any room in the building or structure while attending the gathering does not exceed 30 per cent of the capacity of the particular room.

2. All persons attending the gathering must remain at least two metres apart from each other and from persons conducting the wedding, funeral, service, rite or ceremony unless they are members of the same household.

3. The persons conducting the wedding, funeral, service, rite or ceremony must ensure that it is conducted in compliance with the advice, recommendations and instructions of public health officials, including any advice, recommendations or instructions on physical distancing, cleaning or disinfecting.

4. The persons conducting the wedding, funeral, service, rite or ceremony must ensure that any washrooms that have been made available to persons attending the gathering are cleaned and disinfected as frequently as is necessary to maintain a sanitary environment.

There is NO mention of Holy Communion. Public health officials are given authority ONLY over "physical distancing, cleaning or disinfecting". In fact, we know this is true as other jurisdictions outside of Toronto are distributing Holy Communion in the traditional manner and they are NOT being raided by the police. It is UNCONSTITUTIONAL for any government, or a proxy bureaucrat to change, alter, or in any way revise religious rites, as they pertain to religious practice. The government may legislate that "EXIT" signs must be placed in buildings that have public access (such as churches, mosques, temples and synagogues) but they NO RIGHT to directly or indirectly interfere, obstruct or change (either in addition or detraction) in ANY manner with the religious rites themselves. Ontarians are blessed with Premier Doug Ford who is neither an anti-Christian or anti-religious bigot. 

Nonetheless, the Ontario Law has not incommoded rogue bureaucrats, such as those from Toronto Public Health, from using psychological intimidation and threats of closure against local Churches. They have their guns specifically aimed at Latin-Rite Catholics and the Greek Orthodox. Cardinal Collins himself said on video that he was BULLIED by Toronto Public Health into banning reception of Holy Communion in the normal manner (that is, on the tongue). 

The Russian Orthodox Archbishop of San Francisco has denounced this persecution of religion that is now worldwide, (such as the horrors who govern California, Illinois, and Michigan) comparing it to Soviet-era oppression and tactics. How tragic that the vast majority of Catholic bishops have remained silent. Alas, we know that they are silent as they are taking billions from Caesar. They have been joined by "rapture" Darbyite sects who have long ago betrayed Jesus Christ.

Once again, let there be no mistake. The City of Toronto issued a "ban", but also knew that its ban could easily be litigated as illegal. Therein lies the rub. Within this context of a very secular city, a very hard-left dominated City Council, an aggressive media that is virulently anti-Christian, the Cardinal decided to dispense with defending religious liberty and took the now proverbial knee. Bowing to their pressure, he stripped Catholics of their rights, and set a dangerous precedent for State meddling in religious ceremonies. 

What could be next? The State changing texts, State approved religious services in the interests of "public harmony and diversity"? Do not be naive into thinking it can't happen. Freedom of speech already does not exist in Canada, and freedom of religion is next.

Christianity is under attack as it has never been before. Churches are now being burnt and vandalized across North America. Most people are unaware that churches have been subject to arson attacks for years. Canada is not immune to these events. Vox Cantoris reports of a monstrous attack on a statue of the Blessed Mother just outside of Toronto. All hell would have broken loose in Canada's media had the attack been on a synagogue, mosque, or temple. But the media knows its enemy and are silent. They know that it is Christianity, and the Catholic Church in particular, that stands in the way of a complete overthrown of civilization and morality. 

Though the media are correct, the rot, the corruption in the Church has virtually paralyzed Her. I wish to touch upon one contributing factor: the Catholic Church in Canada's strange relationship with the State. The Catholic in Canada is de facto ia collection of "not for profit corporations". They are behaving like them, and NOT like local churches devoted to Our Lord Jesus Christ.  

It is the same old story: follow the money. Once Caesar establishes a financial relationship in which the Church becomes beholden to the State, the game is over. Who bites the hand that feeds it? And when money is taken, a relationship is established, and the giver controls the relationship.

An example of this corruption, and falling for the siren's call, is the legal entity known as the "Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation for the Diocese of Toronto".  Gone is the Mystical Body of Christ, the local Church. Gone is the  local church that could (if She took a stand for Christ) reflect a small bit of  what must have been the radiant beauty of the pure, undefiled ancient Church of Rome during the persecutions. The local church is be leaven, salt, light, and a "counter culture". We have not so much a church anymore, but a "corporation". An adulteress who has betrayed Christ to give herself to Caesar. 

And so it is that the Catholic Church in Canada is prostrate before the Canadian Caesar, kissing the edge of his toga, begging for, and as a faithful and obedient Subject, receiving a bag of denarii.

Archbishop Kyrill: California's new laws "recall the era of godless persecutions in the USSR"

Open Letter to The Honourable Gavin Newsom, Governor of California

from His Eminence Kyrill Archbishop of San Francisco and Western America

in light of the decree issued by the Governor of California that forbids choral singing in churches

Your Excellency,

I hereby express my protest against the recent prohibition of liturgical singing in houses of worship, which is an infringement of the rights and religious freedoms of the clergy and faithful of the Western American Diocese of the Russian Diaspora, the other Local Orthodox Churches, performing their ministry in this state, as well as other religious bodies.

During the years of Soviet rule, when the Russian Orthodox Church was subjected to persecution, Russian émigrés and their descendants comprising the Russia Church Abroad, came to the United States of America and other countries overseas, in order to freely confess their Orthodox Faith, to freely perform Divine Services, to observe the feast days, fasts and all the customs established by the Orthodox Church. In this manner, they followed the example of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, who sought the possibility of freely confessing their faith.

From the very beginning of the current global outbreak of the coronavirus the clergy and faithful of our Diocese, desiring to preserve the health of the population and stop the spread of the coronavirus, and respecting those in power, rigorously strove to adhere to all the standard norms and restrictions introduced by local health authorities. Even though they were deprived of the reverent Divine Services of Great Lent and the joyous celebration of the Triumph of the Holy Resurrection, our parishioners were sympathetic to our directives, attending our churches “virtually.” However, we now observe a contradiction in that mass protests take place everywhere, at which absolutely all precautions are violated with impunity. Yet, liturgical singing performed during the Divine Services and while observing all of the rules, is forbidden. This is open discrimination, hypocrisy and the infringement of our religious rights, prompting us to recall the era of godless persecutions in the USSR.

Nonetheless, we will continue to pray with gratitude “for this land, its authorities and armed forces,” and “for this city, every city and country and all who in faith dwell therein.” Yet, at the same time, we will defend the rights of our clergy and our parishioners who possess full citizenship in the United States of America.

Friends, the stakes cannot be any higher. If Newsom does NOT answer, and revoke the unjust laws, then it means he concedes guilt. What we are seeing, under a false pretext of "saving lives" and "health" (remember these same people who claim to love life fanatically promote abortion) is really a sleight of hand undertaking to muzzle, drive into penury, and silence Christians. Pray for the Archbishop, pray for his faithful, pray for the repentance and conversion of the persecutors. Would that a Catholic bishop have the courage of Archbishop Kyrill. Alas, it is not to be. 

If your bishop or archbishop is under similar totalitarian orders and he has acquiesced, then pray for him to attain the courage to stand up and reclaim the rights of the Church and the faithful to worship God. 

Here in the Archdiocese of Toronto, a vicious persecution is underway (as in California singing has been "banned"). Readers from the United States and further afoot need to be aware that both the Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Church (perhaps because the Premier of Ontario is a personal friend of the Archbishop?) have been threatened and persecuted by Mayor John Tory (in America he would be a leftist Democrat Mayor, just so you know what we have here) and his hard-left dominated Council and the politicized, hard-left Toronto Board of Health (which controls Toronto Public Health). These entities operate under the control of City Council. 

It is interesting to note that Catholic school Trustee Ida Li Preti sits on this Board of Health, as recommended in a letter to John Tory (dated December 7, 2018) from the then Chairwoman Maria Rizzo of the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Li Preti and Rizzo both are known to openly dissent against Catholic moral teachings, and could be described as politically belonging to the hard-left. Other hard-left extremists include Gord Perks, Joe Cressy, Mike Layton, and Kristyn Wong-Tam. Li Preti is perfect fit with these people.

These are the people that Cardinal Collins has surrendered to. But all is not lost, I am aware that other Christians, both those in full communion with the See of Peter, and those in Eastern Orthodox churches have had the courage NOT  to acquiesce to these ungodly demands. 

I am also aware that many separated brethren of  the protestant communities have also refused to bow to Caesar's unjust demands. May God bless them for their bravery and righteousness. 

I denounced the unjust and illegitimate actions when they were imposed here in Ontario and Toronto, and I hereby denounce them again. 

Silence is NO longer an option. 

I call upon ALL CATHOLICS to join with our Orthodox brothers and sisters in denouncing and rejecting this attack on the open confession and praise of Our Lord Jesus Christ. 

If you remain silent you have united yourself in your treachery to Satan. 

In your ignorance, you have been played as a fool, and handed over your God-given right and DUTY to be in His PRESENCE and to WORSHIP the LIVING GOD. 

Repent if you were fooled and silent. Speak up! However if you continue to remain silent, you have either lost the faith or are well on the way to losing it. You no longer understand and realize that God is truly and substantially present Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in our churches in the Blessed Sacrament awaiting our adoration. 

And our bishops: when the State shut our churches, when these same bishops fell over themselves boarding the churches up: did they bless the city with the Blessed Sacrament? Did they, in solemnity, take the Blessed Sacrament about our cities blessing us? 

Or were they in hiding, under their beds, being waited upon by underlings? Friends, God always draws good out of evil: He has exposed these men, He has shown us who the true friends of the faithful are. 

Wake up! Stop slumbering along in your delusions, stop thinking these men are standing up for the Faith before a godless generation. 

Don't be like them! Stop your foolishness, stop hiding under your bed. 

Live your life. Live like a freeman. 

Stop living like a slave. 

Be a Christian. 

Cardinal Collins on St. John Fisher and the Persecution of Christians by the State

Wake up blind Christians: The State IS Persecuting the Church

Gavin Ashenden discusses the very grave, spiritual, social, and political implications of the State closing of our churches. Ashenden outlines the argument that the State - at the very least - violated the civil liberties of churches to conduct religious services. The example he gives is that supermarkets remained open, whilst churches were closed. 

Ashenden develops the theological reasons as to why the State did NOT have the right to impose a blanket, universal closure of churches. This is not rendering to Caesar what is Caesar's, as Caesar does NOT have power over the Church. As Ashenden says we should "smell evil" when hearing the argument of universal church closure.  

The closing of churches WAS a DIABOLICAL attack on the Blessed Sacrament. 

The government told us we do NOT have the right to worship, to adore, to be in the PRESENCE of the LIVING GOD. 

This surrender, this silence can only be explained by a loss of faith. Nothing else can explain a Catholic's acceptance of the State banning them from being in the PRESENCE of the LIVING GOD. 

Watch and learn. Pray and think. Please no longer remain SILENT. 

You now have to answer the question: do YOU serve Christ or Caesar?

Dear friends in Christ: Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Separated Brethren. 

A sinister and subtle persecution is taking place under the guise of "public health". It is the most sinister of persecutions, for these Janus-like politicians and health officials proclaim life and freedom, whilst in reality snatching it away. 

Over the past two weeks it emerged that illegal and unconstitutional intimidation was being placed upon Cardinal Collins by the City of Toronto and its public health officials. The Cardinal stated that he was being bullied into obeying the edicts of the public health officials, and that they decided how Holy Communion was to be distributed. We now have the following  public statement by Fr. Fanourios of the Greek Orthodox Church, which includes the following: 

"...the City of Toronto FORBADE Holy Communion for the area of Toronto and it looks like the PERSECUTION OF THE CHURCH CONTINUES"

Dear friends: Premier Doug Ford is not known to be an enemy of Christianity. However, he is but a man, a besieged man. He is also a personal friend of Archbishop Sotirios, whose Greek Orthodox Archdiocese received the "order" from the City of Toronto banning Holy Communion. 

I will leave it you dear friends, to speculate if ideology and politics of these public health officials and their leftist political masters has anything to do with the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto. 

The Premier has many powerful enemies: Mayors (led by the detestable John Tory of Toronto), provincial and federal politicians, "deep state" government bureaucrats and officials, the Toronto Media, and the downtown hard-left jet-setting "elite" all virulently opposed to any inclinations that the Premier would naturally have to stop the attacks on liberty and Christian freedom. Doug Ford needs our prayers.

IDEOLOGY over SCIENCE ~ how "scientists" have become "the priests" of the "new religion"

We live in a dystopia. The containment of SARS-CoV2 is being carried out not according to the EVIDENCE, but according to ideology, and results not in science, but pseudoscience, if not even an anti-science mentality, turning it into a new superstition, a false religion. Rather than taking care of those who are at serious risk: over 70, those with preconditions, where the disease can be very deadly, public health officials have locked up healthy people, closed the economy, and imposed draconian and dystopian controls over what is supposed to be a "free" society. 

Our leading Public Health Officials, are, in the majority not practicing science, but rather a warped sociology of science, which amounts to adhering to ideology. They have perverted science, and become the new "high priests" of a new "religion". 

Mario Bunge, the Argentine philosopher of science, in the article "A Critical Examination of the New Sociology of Science - Part 1 [Philosophy of the Social Sciences, 21, 524-560] put it this way: 

"scientific truth, whether total or partial, are supposed to be universal rather than the property of this or that group... if a view is only acceptable to the members of some social group, than it is ideological, not scientific. Even when an idea originates within a special group, it must be universalizable to count as scientific. Unless this criterion of scientificity is accepted, it becomes impossible to distinguish science from ideology, psuedoscience, or antiscience..." (Bunge, 1992, p. 51). 

An example of ideology at work, and not science, is Health Canada's arbitrary, claim of 2 meters for social distancing, versus the WHO's recommended 1 meters. Both figures cannot be correct. They both could be wrong, one could be right, but both cannot be right. 

Another example. We now know that children are not spreaders, and that SARS-CoV2 is LESS dangerous than Seasonal Influenza. This is not ideology, this is objective, universal fact. This is science. Certainly science is always skeptical and subject to revision and improvement, but science is built upon empirical facts, and not ideology. We also know, based on the EVIDENCE 

that the IFR for <60 years of age with no underlying conditions is the same as Seasonal Influenza. You begin to see how irrational and ideological this all is.

Schools have been closed and boarded up since March. But should they be? With the WHO claiming a IFR of 3.4% in the initial weeks one could argue that it was rational, but once new EVIDENCE emerged to the contrary, children should have been returned to school. By early May we had our answer in the Journal of the American Medical Association (Pediatrics), published on May 11, 2020:

Finally, it is important to emphasize that the overall burden of COVID-19 infection in children remains relatively low compared with seasonal influenza. As of April 28, 2020, the CDC report 8 deaths in children 14 years or younger related to COVID-19 infection, whereas there have so far been 169 influenza-related deaths in children 14 years or younger during the 2019-2020 season, with 81 of these occurring in 2020. (Shekerdemian et al., 2020, p. E5) 

Here we are over THREE months later and still the schools are closed in Canada, the USA, Britain and a number of other countries who have distinguished themselves with the most extreme ideological reactions. The more common sense Taiwanese, South Koreans, Swedes, Norwegians, Austrians, Dutch, Danes, and Finns ... have their schools open. NO spikes, no hospital capacity collapses. As to how the WHO throws one of its own under the bus in the name of ideology and the "new religion" of psuedo-science, consider this: 

Contrary to the LIES from the Media acolytes of the "Priests" of the new "religion", DEATHS are NOT statistically spiking, though there are more infections. (Infections are actually good, as this is how herd immunity will be achieved).

The 1970s were a time when quite a number of artists were (perhaps because of the disaster of the Vietnam War) asking serious questions as to the dystopian future that was appearing. Sadly, the Catholic churchmen, rather than providing answers, were, and are themselves major players in building this unfolding, totalitarian dystopia.

Fascinating how three Toronto "rockers": an Eastern Orthodox, a Jew, and a Protestant, could "get it". But our "Catholic" churchmen cannot "get it". I think there is a solution to this riddle. The churchmen actually DO get it, but unlike the questioning and intrepid "rockers", they WANT IT. They WANT to be "the priests of the temple", building the "brotherhood of man", and holding the "red star proudly high in hand".

I have many connections in the Polish community. Many fled to Canada in the 80s, from Bolshevism. Other Poles I knew lived under black and red fascism. They know what true Christian freedom is, and they know the signs and the modus operandi of totalitarians. 

My Polish friends tell me one thing: these globalists, elitists, secularists have one thing in common: they are WORSE than the post-War Communist Soviets.

A Polish lady I knew would recall to me how my father and her husband used to talk religion, and how my father would emphatically stress that Canada was degenerate, and its "democracy" a sham.   He experienced totalitarianism first hand, as slave labour in Germany and then Norway for the Third Reich. He grew up in pre-war Catholic Poland and therefore was able to compare what a Christian civilization was to what a post-Christian "civilization" is, and becomes - an anti-Christian "civilization". Coming to the so-called "West", he was able to watch a rapid transformation of nominally Christian peoples into brutes, pagans, and vicious anti-Christians. This where we are now. 

Canadians, never living under a jackboot do not understand this. In fact, many of you, being born in Canada, living your life in physical "freedom" (until corona was weaponized by the globalists), think this is absurd. You think that ticking a ballot box every few years, avoiding jail by keeping your head down and your nose clean, whilst evil abounds and is glorified is "freedom". Most are clueless that they have had their Christian freedom stolen from them over the past decades by these globalists. Bolshevism is no longer in the "east", it is here, back in the lands that originally vomited into the world: back in the decadent and degenerate "West". 

Don't take my word for it.  Let us turn to Bishop Fulton Sheen. Already in 1947 he pointed out that Soviet Communists, having gone through the disaster of sexual revolution and attacks on the family, reversed course. This reversal was such that the Soviets were CLOSER to morality than the new ideologies that were beginning to sweep the neo-pagan "West" in the post-war years  (in reality a revival of the decadent "roaring twenties"). As we think of the open glorification of sexual deviancy, the destruction of matrimony, (much of it led and excused by "Catholics") we can see that truly the "West" is a spiritual hellhole. Watch the following video and learn. 

Dear friends, we should not delude ourselves: we are in a new dark age. We entered it decades ago. Just as a severed branch still has leaves, the initial decay was not discernible to most. The majority of Catholics and separated brethren continued in their delusions. Many still to this day. 

Politics is not going to save us. Politicians aren't going to save us. Only repentance and conversion to Jesus Christ will offer us the possibility of eternal salvation. Nations come, and nations go. Empires rise, and empires fall. Only Jesus Christ remains the same: yesterday, today, and tomorrow. 

The first step out of a dark age, as any Christian knows is REPENTANCE. Have we repented? Are we morally and spiritually better or worse than five years ago, ten years ago, twenty years ago? Have our bishops repented and made public reparation? Have our politicians repented on behalf of their Nations and made public acts of worship and repentance? Has the family been strengthened or attacked? We cannot wait for bishops and politicians: because it is not going to happen. We, each of us, must repent, make reparation, and convert. Christianity begins at home.
