St. Philip Neri delivers Sermon on St. Philip's Day in Toronto!

On the Feast of St.Philip Neri, at Holy Family Church in Toronto, run by the Fathers of the Toronto Oratory, the sermon was unexpectedly given by the "sweetest of fathers", St. Philip himself. St. Philip delivered his homily in the manner of one of his spiritual sons, the now Blessed John Henry Newman. Speaking cor ad cor loquitur, the saint whispered the following words:

Well! when shall we have a mind to begin to do good? Let no one wear a mask, otherwise he will do ill; and if he has one, let him burn it. Men should often renew their good resolutions, and not lose heart because they are tempted against them.

Let persons in the world sanctify themselves in their own houses, for neither the court, professions, or labour, are any hindrance to the service of God. In dealing with our neighbour, we must assume as much pleasantness of manner as we can, and by this affability win him to the way of virtue.

Perfection does not consist in such outward things as shedding tears and the like, but in true and solid virtues. Let a man frequent the holy Sacraments, go to sermons, and be often reading the Lives of Saints. Let a man always think that he has God before his eyes. When a man is in an occasion of sin, let him look what he is doing, get himself out of the occasion, and avoid the sin.

The greatest help to perseverance in the spiritual life is the habit of prayer, especially under the direction of our confessor. There is nothing the devil fears so much, or so much tries to hinder, as prayer. An excellent method of preserving ourselves from relapsing into serious faults, is to say every evening, “To-morrow I may be dead.” A man without prayer is an animal without the use of reason.

To leave our prayer when we are called to do some act of charity for our neighbour, is not really a quitting of prayer, but leaving Christ for Christ, that is, depriving ourselves of spiritual sweetnesses in order to gain souls.

If a man finds it very hard to forgive injuries, let him look at a crucifix, and think that Christ has shed all His Blood for him, and not only forgave his enemies, but prayed the Eternal Father to forgive them also.Let him remember also that when he says the Pater Noster every day, instead of asking pardon for his sins, he is calling down vengeance upon them. Men are generally the carpenters of their own crosses.

If we wish the Holy Spirit to teach us how to pray, we must practise humility and obedience. The fruit we ought to get from prayer, is to do what is pleasing to the Lord. A virtuous life consists in mortifying vices, sins, bad thoughts, and evil affections, and in exercising ourselves in the acquisition of holy virtues. Let us be humble and keep ourselves down:- Obedience! Humility! Detachment!

We must take care of little faults: for he who once begins to go backward, and to make light of such defects, brings a sort of grossness over his conscience, and then goes wrong altogether. The servant of God ought to seek knowledge, but never to show it or make a parade of it. The devil has a crafty custom of sometimes urging spiritual persons to penances and mortifications, in order that by going indiscreet lengths in this way, they may so weaken themselves as to be unable to attend to good works of greater importance; or be so intimidated by the sickliness they have brought upon themselves as to abandon their customary devotions, and at last turn their backs on the service of God.

The true medicine to cure us of pride, is to keep down and thwart touchiness of mind. Humility is the true guardian of chastity. When a man has fallen he ought to acknowledge it in some such way as this: “Ah, if I had been humble I should not have fallen!” If we wish to help our neighbour, we must reserve neither place, hour, or season, for ourselves. To obtain perfectly the gift of humility, four things are required: to despise the world, to despise no person, to despise one’s self, to despise being despised. We ought to hope for and love the glory of God by means of a good life.

To begin and end well, devotion to our Blessed Lady, the Mother of God, is nothing less than indispensable. Let us think of Mary, for she is that unspeakable virgin, that glorious lady, who conceived and brought forth, without detriment to her virginity, Him whom the width of the heavens cannot contain within itself. The true servant of God acknowledges no other country but heaven. Be devout to the Madonna, keep yourself from sin, and God will deliver you from your evils.

In order to enter Paradise we must be well justified and well purified. Let the young man look after the flesh, and the old man after avarice, and we shall all be saints together. Where there is no great mortification there is no great sanctity. We must give ourselves to God altogether. God makes all his own the soul that is wholly given to him. Let us reflect that the Word left heaven, and stooped to become man for us.

Besides pardoning those who persecute us, we ought to feel pity for the delusion they are labouring under. To one who really loves God, there is nothing more harassing or burdensome than life. Let young men be cheerful, and indulge in the recreations proper to their age, provided they keep out of the way of sin. Not to know how to deny our soul its own wishes, is to foment a very hot-bed of vices. The hour is finished - we may say the same of the year; but the time to do good is not finished yet.

Our Lady of Fatima: 100th Anniversary Traditional Latin Mass for Catholics in the Greater Toronto Area

May 13 is the 100th anniversary of the appearance of the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Mother of God at Fatima, Portugal. In the traditional calendar, May 13 is the Feast (3rd class) of St. Robert Bellarmine.  In the new calendar for the Novus Ordo Missae, it is the "Optional Memorial" of Our Lady of Fatima. An "Optional Memorial" is just that, the priest can choose the text for Our Lady of Fatima or the Ferial. The traditional calendar was never updated liturgically to recognise the appearance of Our Lady at Fatima.

In the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum, Pope Benedict XVI made possible the updating of the traditional Mass calendar of 1961 to include more current feasts and saints. Recently, the Pontifical Council Ecclesia Dei in the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith decreed that Our Lady of Fatima could be celebrated on May 13 in the traditional Mass. How appropriate then that the first change should be for Our Lady and in 2017, to recognise the 100th anniversary of her appearance at Fatima.

BOMBSHELL: Catholic teachers promoting "lifelong communist"and terrorist on Twitter

Angela Davis, the "lifelong communist" and terrorist is now being promoted by the Ontario English Catholic Teacher's Association (OECTA). The  Halton Hills division of OECTA, has seen fit to re-tweet a speech given by the self-admitted "lifelong communist", and supporter of terrorism. Of course, being a communist is considered wonderful by these fellow-travelers. Far be it for OECTA to teach the Faith, to teach sexual purity, to teach what the Church has always taught.

No, when OECTA is not busy pushing homosexuality and heresy, it is busy promoting a notorious communist and terrorist.

It is interesting to note that the Russian hero Alexander Solzhenitsyn denounced Davis as a betrayer of victims who suffered behind the Iron Curtain. This, of course, does not concern OECTA in the least. The teacher's union has a vicious, militant, atheistic agenda of promoting a secular world order, with a new false "morality". They are not interested in passing on the Faith (as they do not have it), they are not even interested in passing on a modicum of education. No, they are only interested in turning classrooms into sinister incubators of social corruption and moral perversion.

OECTA: what an interesting list of abominations: heresy, dissent, abortion, contraception, sexual depravity and now communism. Have I forgotten something?

Yet in all of this there is an ecclesiastical "elephant" in the room. Thomas Cardinal Collins and the Bishops of Ontario.

Your Eminence, Your Excellencies,

When are you going to do something? Why are you silent when "Catholic" teachers OPENLY promote homosexuality? Why are you silent when "Catholic" teachers OPENLY promote heresy?

Are your advisors keeping this information from you?

Do you know, but are afraid?

What are you afraid of?

Just what is motivating you to cringe in emasculated silence?

Cardinal Collins, YOur Excellencies: with the greatest respect for your Offices as Shepherds and Teachers of the Flock given to you by Christ Our Lord to lead to Salvation: why are you silent? Answer us. We await your reply.

Court strikes blow in favour of Catholic education; "The Catholic Register" covers for LBGT agenda in schools

A Saskatchewan Court ruling which would eventually free Catholic education from the tyranny of the State may be   over-ruled by Premier Brad Wall, by his invoking the right of a province to reject a court ruling via what is known as the Constitutional "Notwithstanding Clause".

The Judge's decision would de facto inevitably free Catholic parents to actually decide if they wished their children to receive a real Catholic education.

The Judge was correct in stating that Catholics have a constitutional right to a Catholic education. This right, however,  does not flow from the State but from God. The State only reaffirms it. God writes straight with crooked lines and here the Judge struck the bulls-eye: Catholics are entitled to a CATHOLIC education. Perhaps this Judge is actually well aware that what is being touted as Catholic is actually not Catholic, but a monstrous lie. A deception.

God will even use a pagan Judge to call out the vileness of so-called Catholic education. For those seeking to confirm the degree of the perversity of the "Catholic" educators in Saskatchewan, as well as the cowardice and complicity of the bishops, a brief review of the State funded Saskatchewan Catholic school system discovers that it is -like its Ontario counterpart -  heavily into the LGBT agenda.

Notwithstanding this (no pun intended) The Catholic Register - the official Archdiocesan newspaper of Toronto - has published an editorial strongly in favour of the Premier's invocation of the Clause. The Catholic Register editorial continues the cover-up and official party-line that State funded Catholic schools teach Catholic Doctrine. No, the State funded schools do NOT teach Catholic doctrine.

The Catholic Register fails to inform us how it is "smart" for the continuance of a school System that is anti-Catholic and robs the tax-payers in the process for something that is false and a lie. The promotion of homosexuality is a grave evil. The Catholic Register fails to tell how how schools can call themselves "Catholic", yet openly promote homosexuality, displaying the "Rainbow" flag of "gay liberation".

The Toronto Catholic District School Board and the Ontario English Catholic Teacher's Association have a militant pro-homosexual agenda. The agenda includes the open promotion of homosexual propaganda in schools even to the extent - as mentioned above - that the "Rainbow" flag, the symbol of "gay liberation" is displayed in Catholic schools across the Greater Toronto Area and no doubt beyond. This silence of Cardinal Collins, and this delicate balance of Bishop Dolan must be repudiated. The salvation of souls are at stake. The souls of innocent young children.

Let me mention just three men who were not silent, nor sought striking delicate balances with falsehood and evil. Firstly, the God-Man, Our Lord Jesus Christ: rather than back down one iota, he allowed Himself to be Crucified for the Truth. St. Paul, in his turn, warned us in the Book of Romans that those who practice homosexuality will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.  St. John Chrysostom, in his writings against unnatural sexual vice, informed us the with the manifestation of sodomy, "hell appears before its time".

There is no such thing as a "messy" truth. There is no such thing as striking a balance between 2+2=4 and 2+2=5.  Just tell that to a civil engineer designing a bridge. A bridge built on 2+2=5 will fall down. So too, with the Cardinal's silence (being actively promoted by the deceptions of The Catholic Register), and Bishop Bolan's delicate balance between good and evil all will come crashing down.

Pray for the children being perverted by deviant and evil teachers, Unions and School Boards. Pray for the conversion of cowardly bishops who would remain silent and strike balances as souls are at stake.

The Holiness of Celibacy

A poor, angry, confused man who left the Catholic Church has recently written an article denouncing celibacy and blaming it for the sexual abuse of children by pervert priests, yet all the while rejecting the truth of the matter: homosexual pervert infiltrators into the Sacred Priesthood.

Celibacy is firstly a gift from God. Celibacy is the imitation of Christ, Our Lord; who was celibate. Priests are called to imitate Christ to a very close degree. This is not a denial that priests are not sexual beings. Everything we do has a sexual component to it. But sexuality is far, far more than the marital act, or any licit act that may lead to or enhance the marital act. Indeed, the marital act is a sign of holiness and reflects something of the love of the Holy Trinity. Sexual love is a great gift from God to man and woman within the state of matrimony.

A priest, a nun gives up the marital act because they are following more closely Christ, the Lord. But they do not give up their sexuality. Priests should be real men, more than even soldiers - they should be soldiers for Christ. Nuns too - do not become asexual beings. Sisters retain their feminine sexuality, but in abstaining from acts proper to the marital state they focus their feminine sexuality on loving - non physically - all who come within their reach.

Priests and nuns are not forbidden to have holy friendships. We can think of St. Jerome and St. Paula, St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane Frances de Chantal, or St. Francis and St. Clare. One can be quite sure that their non-physical love was much stronger than the vast, vast majority of love between husbands and wives. In Paradise, they are now receiving their reward by being closer to each other than can ever be imagined. Truly celibacy has its rewards - not only in this life, but in (and this is what is infinitely more important) the never, ever ending afterlife of Heaven.

Has "The Catholic Register" gone LGBT?: The scandal of Catholic education in Canada

The Catholic Register, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Toronto, for whatever reasons continues to deny the overwhelming crisis in Catholic education in Toronto and in the Province of Ontario. For readers unaware of the educational structure, the teachers in the Catholic school system (English language) must belong to the Ontario English Catholic Teacher's Association (OECTA).

Rather than being a group of teachers who are loyal to Christ and His Church, OECTA is a disloyal, dissident, militant political union. The union is pro-homosexual, and for years has promoted open dissent. The most recent actions of OECTA is a dramatic increase in pro-homosexual propaganda, including the prominent placement of two - yes TWO - "gay" Rainbow Flags at it AGM.

The Rainbow Flag is not a standard born aloft by loyal, celibate Catholics who are tormented with same-sex attraction. No, the Rainbow Flag is a public proclamation of the ":gay" agenda; of active homosexuality, of active lesbianism, of gender ideology.

Yet, for all this, The Catholic Register is promoting the Catholic education system as one of loyalty, of pious adherence to the Church. Is it? I ask you - dear readers - to judge for yourselves.

Are we really to believe this?

When we see this?

Or, when we see this?

The homosexual infiltration of the Catholic Church ~ homosexual priests are a cancer on the Mystical Body of Christ

Homosexual ex-priest, Gregory Baum

The homosexual infiltration into the Catholic Church has been going on for decades. Already in the 1950s seminary rectors were expelling homosexuals. However, the Church was lax, hankering to be "modern", heresy and dissent were being subtly promoted, the laity were lusting for contraception.... Everything was perfect for a massive homosexual move into the priesthood.

Estimates vary, but most scholars suggest the number in "western" countries could be anywhere between 50-70 %.

The homosexual infiltration is so insidious that there is no sure way to identify homo priests. It was once thought that they stayed strictly within the "modernist" movement. Sadly, we know that though the number is far less, homosexuals have not been idle in infiltrating "traditionalist" movements as well.

Beyond this, perhaps most dangerous of all, we have homophile cardinals, bishops and priests. Perhaps not homosexuals themselves, but believers in homosexuality being nothing but an alternate lifestyle, that the Sacred Scriptures are wrong, that "gays" love each other etc.

The scandal of a number of American bishops writing homophile offerings when the homosexual nightclub in Florida was attacked is indicative and an example of the depth of homosexual infiltration. Very tellingly, a number of "conservative" bishops came "out" as homophiles.

On May 3rd, 2017, the dissident New Ways Ministry provided a glowing report on Greogry Baum's career as a homosexual infiltrator.

Francis DeBernardo writes:
But the first defense of same-sex relationships by a Catholic theologian actually was made two years earlier by Gregory Baum, an ethicist from Canada.  In an article in the February 15, 1974 issue of Commonweal, Baum wrote an article entitled “Catholic Homosexuals” in which he defended the ethical status of same-sex relationships.
Further on DeBernardo quotes Baum from his autobiography:

Because homosexuals are largely invisible in society, their prophetic vocation will have a cultural impact and support the struggle for human emancipation.
Baum - a convert from Judaism - is arguably the most destructive force ever in the Catholic Church in Canada. Baum played a major role in dissent against Humanae Vitae. The Canadian Bishops' statement, the Winnipeg Statement soon made its way into various hierarchies around the world, helping tens of millions of Catholics to made the jump into apostasy with seemingly painless ease. Follow one's conscience; do as thou wilt. It all sounds too familiar... the original siren call of Satan.

Indeed, Baum's destructive influence went far beyond Canada; even to Rome, even into the very documents of the Second Vatican Council. How do you feel, dear reader, that the drafter of Nostra Aetate, was a practising homosexual? Are we naive to believe that Baum was the only practicing homosexual at the Council? Are we naive enough to believe that he was the only homosexual who was penning Council documents? What of the post-Conciliar "reforms"? Just how many homosexuals - literally hell bent on corrupting the Faith - played a role in contriving and with totalitarian malice, enforcing "reforms" on faithful priests and laity?

But all was not lost. There were a few brave souls who stood up to the homosexual juggernaut. Fr. John O'Connor. O.P, was such man. After he exposed the massive homosexual takeover of his Dominican Province in the United States, he was suspended, then finally expelled from the Dominicans. Fr. O'Connor was mocked in his day, but he is not mocked today. We can say that as more and more homosexual infiltrators are exposed in the priesthood, Fr. O'Connor's assessment was spot on.

The scandalous behaviour of a number of churchmen at the last Synod on the Family in Rome, in favour of homosexuality was another indicator of the degree and power of homosexuals and homophile churchmen. We heard calls at that Synod for allowing practicing homosexuals to receive Holy Communion, for the Church to change Her language regarding the sinfulness of homosexual acts. The obsession with homosexuality was so obvious.

Homosexual infiltration is now so powerful that even Catholic schools are now homophile institutions. It is not only at once Catholic Universities (such as St. Michael's in Toronto, or Notre Dame in the USA that you will see the notorious Rainbow of homosexual "liberation"), but even in Catholic schools amongst youth and even children.

Ontario Catholic School Teachers officially
marching in the Toronto "Gay Pride Parade".

For example, in Toronto, Catholic school teachers march openly in the "Gay Pride Parade", whilst the schools display with "pride" the Rainbow flag. What does it tell young children who walk the corridors of these schools? It tells them that "gay is good", that homosexual behaviour is just an "alternative lifestyle", that perverted sexual acts are good and holy. All of this is done in full public view,  presumably with the approval of the Archdiocese of Toronto, as these deviant teachers are not in any way sanctioned by the Catholic authorities.

So evil are homosexual acts that St. John Chrysostom described sodomy as "hell appearing before its time". Whom do you choose as your guide? St. John or Gregory Baum?

Catholic Education in Toronto has gone LGBT

There is a profound crisis in Catholic education going back well into the 1980s. Over the years the degree of dissent has become more open. A few years ago it was the strident dissenter, Joanna Manning. Today, it is the open, aggressive promotion of homosexuality amongst vulnerable children and youth. The Catholic Register, the Archdiocese of Toronto are apparently blind to the realities of what is taking place in our once Catholic schools.

The following two screenshots are contradictory. If one is true, the other cannot be true.

Archdiocese of Toronto covering up abortion and homosexual propaganda in schools?

A ringing endorsement of pro-abortion & gender-ideologist dissenter, Ann Hawkins
I have written about the open dissent of the Ontario English Catholic Teacher's Association (OECTA). I have pointed out how they promote "Gay-Straight Alliance" clubs, promote homosexuality; dissent from Catholic moral teachings; dissent on the Sacraments and Doctrine (including the support of priestesses etc.), promote abortion etc., etc. These grave errors are not new, but have been going on for years. What has changed over the past few years is the open, "in your face" promotion of evil. The primary example would be the aggressive advocacy of homosexuality.

Now, The Catholic Register (the official Archdiocesan newspaper) carries an article by John B. Kostoff entitled, "Catholic schools are a vehicle for faith journey". Amongst other things, Kostoff, referencing sociologist Reginald Bibby, admits that most Catholics in the education system dissent on the Faith. Naturally, Kostoff does not phrase it this way, but rather sees each student on "...their faith journey". Kostoff also does not want to "challenge" Catholics, or "set the "bar too high on who is or who isn't Catholic". Kostoff also admits that "...many students skip Mass", but they "still care about their faith".

It may be news to Kostoff, but Our Lord Jesus Christ has set the "bar": those who love Him must heed His Commandments. Faith without good works is dead. Not attending Sunday Mass is a Mortal Sin. Rejecting the Teachings of the Church because of some "faith journey", is another Mortal Sin. Ignorance may mitigate circumstances (ignorance hugely in part because of deceitful and unCatholic OECTA teachers openly teaching error and heresy to woefully uncatechized children under the noses of bishops and priests), but these evils are always and everywhere objectively grave sins.

The Catholic Faith is not pick and choose; it is all or nothing. Perhaps Kostoff could provide us with what he means by the "...bar too high...". Just what is he implying? Perhaps he can explain to us how having "gay" Rainbow flags of homosexual propaganda at schools such as Cardinal Carter Secondary School and Loretto College help students' "faith journey"?

Kostoff then concludes with a story of the deceased sociologist and dissenter, Andrew Greeley. In essence, we are all going to Heaven; it does not really matter what we believe or do. To the contrary sin exists and has real consequences. For unrepentant sin, the final consequence is being deprived of God's Presence, it means an eternity in Hell. But how many believe in Hell anymore?

It would be bad enough for The Catholic Register to publish such a false and perverted picture of the Faith and Catholic education in Ontario. However, it reaches the level of public scandal, given that Kostoff is the Executive Director of the Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officers Association (OCSOA). A brief review of the OCSOA Twitter account tells us everything we need to know. They give a ringing endorsement to pro-abortion and pro-homosexual/gender ideology promoter, former OECTA President Ann Hawkins.

Does the Catholic Register not know about this?
As I noted a few weeks ago, Hawkins re-tweeted a video of a callout for abortion at "Women's March". More recently, Hawkins was photographed raising aloft the "gay" Rainbow Flag. Readers should also note that at their AGM of this year, OECTA saw fit to display two - yes, two! - "gay" Rainbow flags. For all this OCSOA praises Ann Hawkins. But we should not be surprised. After all, the OCSOA endorses and links to via their website, the dissenting "All God's Children", which includes a pro-homosexual stance.

Is the Catholic Register unaware about OECTA's militant support of homosexuality?
Dear friends: OCSOA cannot not know that OECTA is a militant political Union, heavily infiltrated with dissenters from the Faith. The pro-homosexual stance; the open dissent on Doctrine etc. is all public knowledge. Likewise, it is not possible that The Catholic Register is unaware of this dissent and public scandal of OECTA promoting homosexuality and heresy. If, perchance, they are unaware - there is only one course of action: the immediate resignation of the Publisher and Editor.

We see how the entire decadent structure of "Catholic" education is supported and encouraged by the Archdiocese of Toronto. Let there be no doubt about it: the Chancery, the various chanceries around Ontario, the Catholic officials ARE the problem. The Catholic Register is a material accessory to the lies, the deception, the cover-ups regarding the corruption and moral decadence of OECTA and OCSOA.

We can no longer hide from the reality that the Catholic churchmen of Ontario are fully aware but are doing nothing about the corruption and decadence in Catholic schools.

It would truly be astonishing if Cardinal Collins was unaware of OECTA's public dissent on issues of sexual morality. Likewise it would be astonishing if the Publisher and Editor of The Catholic Register were unaware. Are they really unaware that "gay" Rainbow flags are displayed at Catholic schools? Are we really to believe this?

There is only one possibility that explains the silence of leading churchmen, barring they are themselves heretics and dissenters. Is it possible that the Chancery, the Catholic churchmen are doing nothing to stop OECTA, OCSOA and their various allies because deep, dark secrets are known by these organizations regarding sexual indiscretions by priests, and even higher ranking churchmen?

Catholics need to start asking very serious questions: why is OECTA getting away with the spiritual murder of children? Who is allowing this? Why are they allowing this? Why are they not denouncing OECTA and OCSOA? Do they support OECTA and OCSOA and the promotion of homosexuality and the active undermining of the Faith? Or, is there another reason for this ominous silence? You dear readers, decide for yourselves.

The Second Vatican Council was for Renewal not Betrayal

I'm re-posting portions of a seminally important Angelus address by Pope Paul VI (April 25, 1968) on the Second Vatican Council.  I had earlier included this reference in a post entitled "renewal not betrayal" (words of the Holy Father himself) in which the Holy Father was fighting the dissent that had spread through many sections of the Church immediately following the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council. I've re-arranged the final paragraph in point form - leaving the integrity of the wording intact - to emphasize the Holy Father's identification of key points of reference vis-a-vis true renewal.

1968 was a critical year in the Church as it saw an explosion of dissent against Humanae Vitae. In Canada, the bishops' Winnipeg Statement did much to fudge the issue and create a false interpretation of conscience. Yes, the encyclical was wonderful teaching, yes it was the Catholic ideal - BUT  - follow your conscience.

It should be noted that many bishops opposed the Winnipeg Statement,..but the damage was done. More will follow on this litmus test of loyalty to Christ and His Church. It will be enough to mention that Pope Paul's 1968 Angelus address on Humanae Vitae was entitled: "We had no doubt". Simply put, the then Vicar of Christ re-affirmed against a decadent world, that each and every act of artificial contraception was and is objectively intrinsically evil.

There are many things that can be corrected and modified in Catholic life, many doctrines that can be studied more deeply, completed and expressed in more comprehensible terms, many rules than can be simplified and better adapted to the needs of our times.

But there are two matters beyond argument: the truth of the Faith, authoritatively sanctioned by tradition and by the ecclesiastical magisterium, and the constitutional law of the Church. Obedience must be given to the ministry of the pastoral government  that Christ has established, and that the wisdom of the Church has developed and extended in the various members of the mystical and visible body of the Church, to guide and strengthen the many component parts that make up the People of God.

Therefore:
  1. renewal, yes. Arbitrary change, no.
  2. History of the Church, ever living and new, yes. Historicism destructive of traditional dogma, no.
  3. Theological integration according to the teaching of the Council, yes. Theology deriving from arbitrary subjective theories, often borrowed from hostile sources, no.
  4. A Church open to ecumenical charity, to responsible dialogue, to the recognition of Christian values among our separated brethren, yes. An irenic theology that betrays the truth of the faith and adopts certain negative principles which have contributed to the separation of so many Christians from the centre of unity of the Catholic communion, no.
  5. Religious liberty for all in civilised society, and liberty of personal adherence to religion according to the well-considered choice of the individual conscience, yes. Liberty of conscience as the criterion of religious truth, without reference to the authenticity of serious and authorized teaching, no. And so on.
 (Angelus Address, April 25, 1968).
