Pope Francis: His homilies are taking on a pattern that should awaken us

Do you see a pattern here from our Holy Father in his homilies from his daily Masses?

"Entrust the Church to the Lord is a prayer that makes the Church grow. It is also an act of faith. We can do nothing, we are poor servants - all of us - of the Church: it is He who keeps her going and holds her and makes her grow , makes her holy, defends and protects her from the prince of this world and what he wants the Church to become, in short more and more worldly. This is the greatest danger! When the Church becomes worldly, when she has the spirit of the world within herself, when that peace which is not that of the Lord - that peace when Jesus says, 'I leave you peace, my peace I give you', not as the world gives it - when she has that worldly peace, the Church is a weak Church, a defeated Church, unable to transmit the Gospel, the message of the Cross, the scandal of the Cross ... She cannot transmit this if she is worldly”.

You are pastors, not functionaries,” he told them. “Be mediators, not intermediaries.” (Addressing priests)

All of the baptised must “announce Jesus with our life, with our witness and with our words,” the Pope said.
“When we do this, the church becomes a mother church that bears children, but when we don’t do it, the church becomes not a mother but a babysitter church, which takes care of the child to put him to sleep.”

Pope Francis explained that there is a constant temptation to “find other gates or windows for entering into the kingdom of God, but one can enter only through that gate called Jesus.”
Even within the Christian community, he said, there are “climbers,” who want to give themselves glory or choose a path to happiness that isn’t Christ.

“Some of you may say: ‘Father, you’re a fundamentalist.’ No, simply put, this is what Jesus said,” the Pope told the congregation.

We believe in God who is Father, who is Son, who is Holy Spirit,” Pope Francis said.
“We believe in persons and when we talk to God we speak with persons” who are concrete and tangible, not some misty, diffused god-like “‘god spray” that’s a little bit everywhere but who knows what it is.”

BREAKING NEWS: Scottish Police investigate paedophile-priest rape gang in Motherwell

Each and every day confirms Fr. Matthew Despard's book, Priesthood in Crisis. Perhaps the release of this book has helped motivate the police to investigate charges of homosexual rape of young boys by clergy. The story below alleges that an attack even took place at the holy shrine at Carfin, within the Diocese of Motherwell.

As I wrote yesterday, Pope Francis is taking a personal interest in these matters. Through Cardinal Oullet, the Holy Father has suspended any further appointments of bishops, as well as moving towards a full investigation into Fr. Despard's book. This new investigation will only re-confirm the Roman authorities of the depth of the crisis in Scotland and the need for a complete housecleaning. May God remove these Judas priests from our midst. Please Pray for Scotland. Canon Taylor, pray for Scotland.

With Montfort's direct contacts in Scotland, we will continue to very closely monitor the situation. He told me today, that he prays that all the good and holy priests in the Diocese of Motherwell  would get together to support Fr. Despard and insist that Rome cleanup this wonderful diocese of my childhood and youthWitness will not be silent

From the Daily Record:

FATHER of two has told how a priest raped him at the famous Carfin Grotto shrine when he was eight.

Pat McEwan, 63, said that after the attack, his abuser told him: “Stop crying. Be a soldier of Christ. God doesn’t like boys who cry.”

Pat says the sex attack was one of many he suffered in three years of hell at the hands of a group of priests at addresses in the west of Scotland.

He believes he was the victim of a paedophile ring. It’s alleged senior clergy were involved.
Pat first spoke out in 1998 about some of the allegations.

But Bishop of Motherwell Joseph Devine, who was Pat’s bishop at the time, took no action, and police decided not to bring charges.

However, officers have now reopened the inquiry and launched a major investigation into two retired churchmen.

Should Pope Francis have taken the name of Pope "Anthony"?

What's in a name?

In the words of Vox Cantoris, "will Pope Francis confound us all"? It looks like Vox's prediction is coming true. A false history of St. Francis puts him as a proto-hippie. This is a totally knavish picture of this rigorous enemy of heresy. May I light-heartedly suggest that perhaps an even better Franciscan name for a Pope who seems to be taking out the "hammer" more and more might be "Pope Anthony" (after all, was not this lovable saint the "hammer of the heretics"?) if the future of this Papacy continues to evolve the way it has over the past month.

A Pope of Our Lady of Fatima?

Have you noticed the ever increasing silence from those who originally fawned all over Pope Francis? We were told that the Pope would overthrow 2000 years of Christian morality. An an example, "Cardinal" Mahoney has ceased tweeting about the Pope; he has reverted to his usual overtly political self. Perhaps the sad man was devastated when he learnt that Pope Francis approved of the findings against the dissident nuns; possibly distressed to learn of the Holy Father's request that his Papacy be consecrated to Our Lady of Fatima. No doubt the Holy Father's continual references to Hell are disconcerting.... NCR too, has chimed in: the Holy Father was not informed of the fact with reference to the dissident nuns. My, my, and this from the Pope who actually meet "regular" people on a daily basis.

The Reform of the Roman Curia

A second - and very disconcerting  - fact for the internal enemies of the Church is Pope Francis' decision to plough ahead with Curial reform. The formation of his international "cabinet" is the first sign that this man is serious about knocking heads together. This push for curial reform also seems to be about to be implemented at a local level. Read on...

The Intervention in the Homosexual Crisis in the Church in Scotland

Hopefully you will have read about the extraordinary book (Priesthood in Crisis) by the heroic Scottish priest, Fr. Matthew Despard. The initial response of the local authorities - perhaps due to collusion, fear of reprisal, blackmail etc. - was to consider canonical proceedings against Fr. Despard. As we reported, the Diocese of Motherwell backed off this approach and changed to policy of denial, silence and even criticizing Fr. Despard from the pulpit in surrounding parishes (Be warned: Witness has contacts on the ground in Scotland. And, as Montfort has assertively pointed out: we will not be silenced).

As Montfort has just reported (please see link below), the Roman authorities are taking the gravity of Fr. Despard's book so seriously, that an investigation into gay bullying, violation of clerical celibacy due to perverted sexual acts, etc. will be undertaken. As noted on this blog, it is evident that local church authorities have not taken seriously sexual crimes committed by clergy: outstanding examples include the promotion of Fr. Paul Milarvie in Glasgow, and the continued public display of a photo on the Motherwell website of Cardinal O'Brien. The handling of the Milarvie "case", following his admission of committing homosexual acts, by the outgoing and incoming archbishops of the Glaswegian archdiocese demonstrates to Rome that the local Scottish church is unwilling or unable to clean house. Indeed, based on our on the ground informants (as well as Montforts regular visits to Scotland), confirms the crisis stems back for decades. Pope Francis is now moving to clean this "filth" out of the Church.

BREAKING NEWS: Fr. Matthew Despard's allegations of a "gay mafia" to be investigated by the Vatican

Fr. Matthew Despard
The Scotsman reports that Pope Francis intends to move with rigor in investigating the ongoing sexual decadence amongst priests and hierarchy in Scotland. Marc Cardinal Oullet,  has informed the Scottish bishops that there will be no further appointment of bishops until Rome has completed its investigation into the sexual crimes of Keith Cardinal O' Brien.

Further, in a development on the homosexual crisis in the priesthood in Scotland, the Roman authorities will not let Fr. Matthew Despard's book, Priesthood in Crisis be buried through inaction and silence. It would seem that contrary to the initial hoped for suspension of Fr. Despard by the various authorities in Motherwell, Rome intends to pursue the very serious allegations contained in Fr. Despard's book. We are now moving from a mere investigation into the sexual crimes of one Cardinal, into a - we hope - full investigation into decades of sexual perversion, cover-up and corruption. This is the best news out of Scotland in years.

From the
Scotsman:

The Congregation of Bishops, headed by Cardinal Ouellet, has instructed the Pope’s ambassador in the UK to continue gathering evidence on Cardinal O’Brien.

It also wants an inquiry into revelations made by a serving priest in Lanarkshire, Father Matthew Despard, of the existence of a “gay mafia”, sexual bullying and open sexual relationships in the Catholic Church.

Orthodox Bishops Kidnapped in Syria

According to the Vatican Insider, the kidnapping of two Orthodox Bishops in Syria was attributed to Chechen jihadists in retaliation for the killing of one of the Boston bombing suspects.
The kidnapping of the two Syrian Orthodox archbishops in Syria is an act of retaliation on the part of terrorist Chechen jihadists who are fighting with anti-Assad rebels over the killing of one of two Chechens responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings and the arrest of the other, by U.S. police forces, Turkish newspaper Sabah reported this morning.

Unless of course it was pro Assad agents...
Yesterday, the leaders of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces in exile stated that following a local inquiry, the prelates were kidnapped by someone close to the Assad regime. Bishop Ibrahim had recently quite clearly distanced himself from the Damascus regime.

According to another news agency, quoting sources in the Syrian Orthodox Church, they were kidnapped by Chechen terrorists belonging to Jabhat an Nusra which apparently has Al Qaida links.

That's just about everybody in the region, and some that are quite far away. Why would anyone kidnap an Orthodox bishop in reaction to the Boston bombing? You got me... unless it was strictly PR. Let me tell you what I think. The Christians in Syria are caught between a rock and a hard place. While they are not particularly fond of the Assad regime they are also not willing to take up arms alongside the rebels. Since it is quite impossible to stay neutral in a conflict that has degenerated as far as that in Syria, these Christians are fair game for anyone who comes along. The Christians in Syria, along with their kidnapped shepherds, are innocent victims in this war. The blame game is a particularly useless exercise in this situation.

I remember reading some time ago about the religious freedom issue in various countries in the middle east. While countries like Saudi Arabia came out on the bottom of the list, there were two counties that were listed as having relatively more freedom. In Iraq and Syria it was possible for Christians to openly practice their faith in relative peace, though not without some difficulty. Since the Iraqi war, the Chaldean churches have hemorrhaged from persecution and emigration. More than half of Iraqi Christians have left the country to escape persecution. In Syria, Christians make up about 10% of the population. Now that the Syrian civil war is into its second year, much the same is likely to happen to the various Syrian churches. As Sancho said to Don Quixote, "Whether the stone hits the pitcher or the pitcher hits the stone it's going to be bad for the pitcher." These communities are very fragile and they need our prayers. The ancient See of Antioch, cradle of Christianity, will fall.

Pray for our brothers and sisters caught in these horrific wars.

Syrian bishop: money, not religion, is motivating force behind kidnappings

The Chaldean Catholic bishop of Aleppo, Syria’s largest city, has told the Fides news agency that money, rather than religion, is motivating those who have kidnapped Christians.
The Greek Orthodox and Syriac Orthodox archbishops of Aleppo were recently kidnapped by Syrian rebels.
“These same Islamic groups are not sincere, they are fanatics who use religion and have the sole purpose of making money,” said Bishop Antoine Audo, SJ, who recounted:
Another priest kidnapped in the south, Father Hasan, was released after 11 days, when relatives collected, with difficulty, $100,000. Before being released he told the torturers: 'I forgive you all, and if I did something wrong, I beg your pardon.' At that point, the emir, that is to say the leader of the group, began to blaspheme Allah.

The Muslim Brotherhood wants Spain "back" from the decadent "West"

The well-known international terrorist organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, through one of its proxies, the Islamic Society of North America, has published an article pining for the "return" of Spain into the fold of a hoped for Islamic empire, a new Caliphate. And not only Spain...

From the Clarion Project

Islamists long for the days of when Spain was under an Islamic state called Andalusia. The Muslim Brotherhood’s founder preached that Spain must return to the House of Islam. The Islamic Society of North America, a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity, printed a recent article referring to Andalusia as a “paradise” that will return when “the only victor is Allah.”
“Thus Andalusia, Sicily, the Balkans, the Italian coast, as well as the islands of the Mediterranean, are all of them Muslim Mediterranean colonies and they must return to the Islamic fold …

Yet, the problem is "us, not "them". A brief glance through the ISNA's publication will see adverts for the US Air Force, TD Waterhouse, Charles Schwab etc. All seemingly innocuous - until one realizes that the ISNA is but a more palatable proxy of the sinister Muslim Brotherhood

The Popes, and the Church, point to the solution (which never changed) but ears are not listening. It is evangelization, it is self-examination: am I leading a good, Christian life? Am I able to evangelize a Muslim? As a religion, Islam is one of the weakest heresies proposed - yet, as a socio-political entity it spread, and has held millions in its grasp for centuries.

The Archbishop of Brussels and Our Blessed Mother
Islamism is spreading due to a decadent and corrupt "West" that has turned from the Gospels. Just today, Vox Cantoris has reported on a grave crime that took place in Brussels, involving the Archbishop of Brussels being assaulted by a group of topless lesbians.

The light of Truth is the only way to dissipate falsehood; the light of the Gospel is the only way to dissipate the Qu'ran. Bombs will not do it - look at the decimation caused by the invasion of Iraq with the veritable destruction of one of the oldest Christian communities in the world. Look for western myopia to lead to the overthrow of the devil you know (Assad) in Syria to replace him with the devil you don't (Islamic Jihadists). Look for Christian - Muslim coexistence in that country to evaporate into mass slaughter. Never forget, the first victims of Islamists are Muslims themselves. Just look at Pakistan on a near daily basis.

The Slut March: Toronto-based girls proudly
proclaiming their decadence
If bombs won't get rid of the Jihadists - what else does the "west" offer? Condomistic sex, birth control, abortion, sodomy, various and sundry sexual perversions, drugs, breakdown of the family, slut marches, pornography.... no, these simply won't do. In fact, historically, one can see that the Jihadists are actually being the scourge that is punishing us, chastising us, purifying us. The sluts in the photos exemplify what the Jihadists are fighting. Who can deny the Jihadist, when he informs us that we are decadent? We are! Look at those self-proclaimed sluts! But let us not leave the field to the Jihadist - the Gospels are the answer, not the Qu'ran.
Self-proclaimed slut from Sao Paulo carrying
her nihilistic creed

At the end of the day there is only one response. It is what St. Peter offered the disabled man in the book of Acts: Christ Jesus. Yes, for the Jihadists that wish to kill us, for the lesbians who wish to assault a priest of Jesus Christ, for the slut who is a victim of the sexual revolution - we must offer to them the chance of redemption, of forgiveness - we too, must offer Jesus Christ to those who persecute us.

ORTHODOX CHURCH SEX SCANDAL: Bishop resigns due to sodomy, orgies and rape

From Radio Free Europe on the shocking resignation of a bishop:

The Serbian Orthodox Church has approved the resignation of a powerful cleric amid sex-scandal claims that culminated this week with the publication of a graphic video appearing to show him engaged in sexual activity with young men.

Vasilije Kacavenda, the bishop of Tuzla and Zvornik in Bosnia-Herzegovina, retreated from his clerical duties months ago as allegations mounted that he had used his position for years to stage frequent orgies and rape underage boys and girls.

But the April 22 decision by the Holy Synod to accept his resignation appears to be the first acknowledgment of the church’s growing unease with the crush of lurid accusations that seem better suited to Caligula’s court than an Orthodox diocese.

Let us see if the regular western, secular press reports this - or are only tales of lurid sexual perversions proclaimed from the rooftops when involving Catholic priests. But this incident does tell us something: the "gay mafia" has obviously also infiltrated into Orthodoxy as well - and into the very hierarchy. Let us not forget, that the path of homosexual infiltration follows after communist infiltration. It remains to be seen how the Orthodox will deal with it; much will depend on the degree of purgation of communist agents within the clergy and hierarchy. Let us pray for our Orthodox brothers and sisters, that this evil, this scourge will leave their midst.

Pope Francis Shakes Up the Curia

From the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis seemed to be set on reform of the curia. In the Vatican the most valued currency is not the Italian lira or the euro but the prestige and power associated with access to the pope. One of the very first things he did upon election was to invite Fr. Lombardi over to Domus Sanctæ Marthæ for a chat. Why is that so strange? Well, Fr. Lombardi, and indeed the entire press office, was directly under the Secretariat of State. Fr. Lombardi simply had no access to Benedict XVI, getting his orders from State instead. In light of this perhaps some of Benedict's so called public relations gaffes begin to make sense.

Let's look back at Pope John Paul II and his handling of the curia. It should come as no surprise that he managed the curia poorly, allowing the various heads of congregations to manage their own affairs under the supervision of the Secretary of State, Cardinal Sodano. I am somewhat relieved that being a poor bureaucrat is not necessarily a bar to sainthood, but I digress. This situation was formalized by the  constitution Pastor Bonus in 1988, which centralized everything under State, making the Secretary of State the number two man in the Vatican. The concentration of power and the potential for reducing the pope to more of a figurehead is obvious. The Vicar of Christ does not need his own vicar.

Pope Francis has been deliberately and systematically undercutting the main currency of this power and influence. The apostolic palace has been the source of some of this currency because the closer you live to the pope, the more access you have to him. In fact there are rumors of senior clerics refusing to give up their apartments there. What do you do if everyone is jostling about making a big deal about living close to you? You move into the local hotel where you will rub shoulders with anyone who happens to be staying there. Pope Francis' move to the Domus Sanctæ Marthæ was no public relations exercise or some sort of humility but a carefully calculated stroke of genius. Apparently the representatives of the Patriarch of Moscow and the Ecumenical Patriarch were quite impressed that, instead of some formal occasion, they were able to see Pope Francis daily when he came down for meals. Who knows what other contacts and interactions he is having over there? Certainly not State... and it's probably driving them nuts.

One month into his papacy, Pope Francis let the other shoe drop. He is an outsider to the curia, having spent most of his career in pastoral positions in Argentina. I was quite excited by this when he was first elected because I believed it would take an outsider to implement the necessary reforms to the governance of the Church. He has appointed what can only be described as a privy council with the express intention of advising him and working towards reform of Pastor Bonus. The makeup of this council is significant in that it is composed of curial outsiders who have had pastoral experience in their own jurisdictions across the globe. Thus he seems to have done an end run around the Secretariat of State, which otherwise would be responsible for drawing up and promulgating revisions to Pastor Bonus. I look forward to seeing what will come of all this with some measure of hope.

While some out there may be disappointed that the pope is either too Catholic or not Catholic enough, it seems to me he may be just what we need at this time.

BLESSED FREDERIC OZANAM: (1813 - 2013) The Bicentenary of the "Apostle in a top hat"

Blessed Frederic Ozanam: 1813- 2013
As you read this, somewhere in the world, someone is receiving help from a Catholic who is also a "Vincentian". The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide lay apostolate whose primary function is the growth in personal holiness of its members through service to the poor.

On this day, April 23rd, the man who is responsible for this wonderful organization was born. He came from a privileged background; challenged by secularists of the time ("what are you doing to help the poor..."), Ozanam decided to put his faith into action. Thus, the Society that has spread to hundreds of countries, received many blessings from Popes, was born in Paris. And who was this great man, this saint?:

Frederic Ozanam was born at Milan in 1813; which was French territory at this time. In 1832, he commenced the study of law at the Sorbonne. In 1833, with six others, he founded the “Conference of Charity”. Sr. Rosalie Rendu helped the fledgling group of laymen make contact with the poor. From this humble beginning, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul came into being. By 1839, Ozanam had obtained two doctorates – law and literature. He also taught at the Sorbonne, becoming Professor of Foreign Literature Frederic died on 8 September 1853 at the age  of 40 years. In 1997 he was beatified by Pope John Paul II. Blessed Frederic Ozanam, pray for us.

“Material assistance is only a secondary object of the Society; sanctification of souls is the principle aim. We shall work for that ...” (Ozanam)

And who is my neighbour”? ...The answer came: “the one who treated him with compassion”. And Jesus said to him: “then go and do the same”.
(St. Luke, 10, 25 – 37; Gospel for the Feast of Bl. Frederic Ozanam)‏

UPDATE: Freyr Rescued!!

In the early hours of this morning, shortly after 2 a.m., a small force of elderly matrons, under the leadership of Miss Jane Marple, rescued Freyr from captivity. Freyr was rushed in an oversized pram to Miss Marple's cottage for a medical examination. Early reports suggest that he has developed a strong aversion to "organic" foods, exotic delicacies, childless couples, metrosexuals, "smart" and electric cars, the Toronto Star and CBC, public education... and so on.
The rescue operation lasted under five minutes, with the yuppies being caught completely off guard. Using her trusty sword, Miss Marple burst in upon the yuppies who were watching - entranced - the "sainted" David Suzuki. Her war cry of "group homes" had the yuppies scampering to flee. Copious amounts of applications for government grants were discovered, autographed photos of failed mayoral candidate "George", and little bags of "white" stuff...

Final briefing before the raid. Monday, 8:31 p.m.

BREAKING NEWS: Freyr rescue to be live-streamed at 2 a.m.

Miss Jane Marple
As reported earlier, Freyr was being held by yuppies in an undisclosed location. Unnamed sources, for security reasons, have confided to us that the supply of tofu has run out and that a rescue operation will be conducted in the early hours of Tuesday morning. We are hoping to live-stream the operation.

Our unnamed source has also informed us that the operation will be led by Miss Jane Marple. We cannot at this time inform you if she will lead an SAS squad or take action solely with the help of Inspector Craddock.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available...

A Scotsman speaks: When is the Scottish Hierarchy going to tell the truth about the "gay mafia" and stop the coverup?

As a Catholic Scot from Motherwell, I am deeply grieved about the moral crimes committed by priests and members of the hierarchy. I am profoundly concerned about Fr. Matthew Despard and the need for us to continue to support him. Let us not lower our guard, nor think the fight is over, just because we have heard that the diocesan officials are presently backing off from suspending him. Do we really think that - in the long term - they are going to let him out of their sights? However, suspension involves serous canonical reasons (e.g. a priest violating the sixth commandment, such as Fr. Paul Milarvie's homosexual incident, would constitute grounds for suspension).  As such, Motherwell knows full well that any suspension of Fr. Despard would invariably lead to a complete investigation into the ongoing sexual depravity amongst the clergy, and the ongoing coverup and denial that evil is afoot. Motherwell may decide to try to silence and isolate Fr. Despard. If so, let another brave priest come forward, may the laity come forward to expose this evil!

Further, any attempted suspension, imposed by Bishop Devine, would only be (canonically speaking) the "first instance"; an appeal to Rome would further blow the "gay mafia" conspiracy wide open. Be warned: Catholics will no longer be silenced by the hierarchy when evil abounds. I can inform you, based on my contacts, that Fr. Despard has overwhelming support amongst Catholics, and other Christians in Scotland. Slandering Fr. Despard from the pulpit will not work either!

What hurts me, perhaps even more than the sins committed, is when I see no change, no true repentance, no return to purity and sanctity. The attempt to intimidate Fr. Despard is the most recent case in point. If Motherwell was serious, they would investigate the charges in Fr. Despard's book using outside investigators to ensure transparency and no coverup. The excellent blog, Philothea on Fire (Jay Boyd), carries a very complete and thoughtful review of his book, Priesthood in Crisis.

I am not saying that there are no longer any holy priests in Scotland. There are, no doubt. But - and we have to be honest - right now, in the local church, there are evil priests who have blasphemed Our Lord and defamed our Blessed Mother through their grotesque sexual immorality. The Church in Scotland is certainly very different from the days when the holy and venerable Canon Taylor walked this earth. Can we imagine how the holy Canon would react if informed that priests and hierarchy were involved in committing perverted sexual acts - and/or covering them up?

For those who think I am over reacting I will leave you with three images to ponder. The first two are from Motherwell - the diocese still has up a photo of Cardinal O'Brien. They continue to keep it up even though the whole world knows that this man disgraced the priesthood, sullied his soul and profaned the local Scottish Church. How much damage O'Brien has done to the Church! One would think, after this admission to gross immorality, the Diocese of Motherwell would see that this man is not fit to display on its website. But, no... there he is, laughing with children. This is an absolute disgrace. This tells me that the diocese has not taken seriously his horrible crime against - not only his own soul - but the sacred priesthood.

Cardinal O' Brien on Motherwell website
Screenshot taken: Sunday, April 21, 2013

Second screenshot from Motherwell Diocese

The third image is from a website called Priests for Scotland. Some of you may know of the sordid and tragic case of Paul Milarvie, the former rector of the Scottish College in Rome; who, in 2010, was caught out in a drunken homosexual incident with "another man" (the details seem to imply the other man was a priest, but the church never officially declared on this though the "other man" was sent, along with Milarvie, for psychological counseling). Was Milarvie defrocked, even suspended for this grotesque spiritual crime? As I have documented, he was promoted and is presently in a position of authority in the Archdiocese of Glasgow as a member of the curia. Now, in a brief search on the web, I find this man dispensing "advise" to those who may be considering the priesthood! Absolutely repugnant! What is going on in the Church in Scotland? How can this be? Is there some sort of diabolical disorientation to allow such things that so obviously should be unthinkable?

"Priests for Scotland" with Paul Milarvie "quotes"

Fr. Despard is correct: there is a "powerful gay mafia" and a sect of enablers who are covering up, disgracing the priesthood in Scotland. It is delusional to believe otherwise. Cardinal O' Brien and Fr. Milarvie cases are facts, undeniable. And the reaction to these two undeniable spiritual crimes proves the depravity and depth of spiritual corruption.

Pray, please pray for Scotland, that God may purify my motherland and bring her back to the Faith. St. John Ogilvie, pray for us.

BREAKING NEWS: Fr. Matthew Despard will NOT be suspended!

The Herald carries an article that Bishop Joseph Devine has backed off a plan to suspend Fr. Matthew Despard, after the publication of Fr. Despard's book Priesthood in Crisis

It would seem that the hierarchy has decided that any action against Fr. Despard would blow the top off the homosexual cover-up. They are probably accepting the "damage" of Fr. Despard book as the lesser of two "evils" - in other words, the suspension of Fr. Despard would unravel over 40 years of homosexual activity and conspiracy.
Yet, this is a disgrace. If they are not going to suspend Fr. Despard - they admit he did no wrong. Now, I ask: Bishop Devine, when will you begin to investigate the "gay mafia" and take action against it to protect the purity and sanctity of the priesthood and the church in Scotland. Let us be honest, the diocese is continuing a COVER-UP.

UPDATE: Just off the phone with a relative from Motherwell. I can confirm that there is great distress amongst Catholics. The "gay mafia" scandal is what everyone is talking about.

From the Herald

SCOTLAND'S longest-serving Catholic bishop has backed down from moves to sanction a serving priest over claims the Church has covered up a culture of sexual bullying.
Joseph Devine, Bishop of Motherwell, issued a notice this week stating no action would be taken against Father Matthew Despard, who has alleged sexual misconduct has been rife for decades in junior seminaries where teenagers train for the priesthood.
Father Despard, parish priest of St John Ogilvie's in High Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, has written a book on the allegations. It names serving priests and claims senior figures in the Church refused to confront complaints of abuse and bullying.
Although written in 2010, Father Despard self-published Priesthood In Crisis on Amazon's Kindle store last month in the wake of the resignation of Cardinal Keith O'Brien and his admission of gay relationships and sexual activity spanning decades.
It has generated a storm within the Church, with Bishop Devine instigating moves which could have led to the removal of Father Despard from his parish or led, theoretically, to his removal from the priesthood.
However, amid concerns any action could simply add fuel to the controversial claims of Father Despard and embroil senior figures within the Church, Bishop Devine has abandoned any punitive action.
One senior source said simply: "Devine blinked."

St. Thomas Aquinas on Islam

"On the other hand, those who founded sects committed to erroneous doctrines proceeded in a way that is opposite to this, The point is clear in the case of Muhammad. He seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh goads us. His teaching also contained precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as is not unexpected, he was obeyed by carnal men.

As for proofs of the truth of his doctrine, he brought forward only such as could be grasped by the natural ability of anyone with a very modest wisdom. Indeed, the truths that he taught he mingled with many fables and with doctrines of the greatest falsity. He did not bring forth any signs produced in a supernatural way, which alone fittingly gives witness to divine inspiration; for a visible action that can be only divine reveals an invisibly inspired teacher of truth.

On the contrary, Muhammad said that he was sent in the power of his arms—which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants. What is more, no wise men, men trained in things divine and human, believed in him from the beginning, Those who believed in him were brutal men and desert wanderers, utterly ignorant of all divine teaching, through whose numbers Muhammad forced others to become his followers by the violence of his arms. Nor do divine pronouncements on the part of preceding prophets offer him any witness.

On the contrary, he perverts almost all the testimonies of the Old and New Testaments by making them into fabrications of his own, as can be. seen by anyone who examines his law. It was, therefore, a shrewd decision on his part to forbid his followers to read the Old and New Testaments, lest these books convict him of falsity. It is thus clear that those who place any faith in his words believe foolishly".
