Fr. Thomas Rosica CSB, the English language "media attache" on the Synod of the Family for the Holy See Press Office, comments on the need for a new language, and the difference between "correct" and "incorrect" language in an interview of himself and Cardinal Gracias of Bombay on Fr. Rosica's own, Salt and Light TV.
Unfortunately, Rosica at no time offers us any examples of what he means. However, he does state that: "Those claiming to be, you know, traditional, faithful, orthodox Catholics, throw out words, and they have no idea what those words mean. The power of words..."
One thing I do agree with Fr. Rosica about the Synod and its orientations: "it is far more important to ask honest real questions, than it is to come up with facile answers."

The full interview of Fr. Rosica and Cardinal Oswald Gracias may be watched here.
Fr. Rosica either claims to "know what those words mean", in which case, by his own definition, he is excluded from being a "faithful, orthodox Catholic", or he does not "know what those words mean", in which case why is a priest?
ReplyDeleteWhat does he mean by "throw out"?
ReplyDeleteThe media attache' attacked those who "throw out words", even though they have no idea what those words mean. At first, I thought he was referring to people who dispose of perfectly good words, as if they were "throwing out" the garbage. For example, if a person obstinately denies a teaching of the Catholic faith, "heresy" would be a well-chosen word. It would be wrong to "throw out" a perfectly good word.
But it seems that the media attache' was complaining about people who simply "use" these words. He implies that the words have no possible usage in a theological debate, and that whoever uses them could not possibly understand the meaning of those words.
Fr. Rosica is just another heretical kook. (I can say that because I know the meaning of those words.)
ReplyDeleteIt's classic well-poisoning. The patron of Salt The Earth TV is simply trying to delegitimize the orthodox position, biasing the listener against orthodox arguments.
ReplyDeleteFirst, "claim to be" makes the listener think it's unsupported, if not false. Second, "no idea what those words mean" is intended to make the listener think that whenever those people speak, they are ignorant.
This is his idea of dialogue, which he is happy to do only with those who agree with him.

I'm sorry Father, but I do happen to know what "heresy", "heretic" and "apostate" mean.
ReplyDeleteOver a short period of time Fr. Roscia has gone from being a priest who made sense to a nasty creature who cannot handle criticism or any opinion different than his own.
ReplyDeleteRight...and I am too stupid so am confused if there is a tabernacle in the sanctuary. And consubstantial! That is such a BIG word for us unwashed pewsitters...
ReplyDeleteFr. Rosica has been allowed a level of influence for the church that is out of proportion to his spiritual or even worldly accomplishments. That is from the evil one. He is a convenient mouthpiece for Satan, and he obviously works diligently in his superior's behalf. He is destructive to our faith and the longer he is allowed to go on, leading people astray with lies and manipulations, the worse it will be. We are being scandalized that this person is being allowed to facilitate the indoctrination into homosexuality for the laity.
ReplyDeleteThis cancer has been ignored and is now metastatic.
Rosica is a fraud. He has no idea what his Vocation is all about.
ReplyDeleteThis second string staffer seems to think he is in charge of the Church.
