The Bishop of the Diocese of Pelplin, Ryszard Kasyna has issued a canonical admonition to Msgr. Krzysztof Charamsa, who yesterday came out as a practicing homosexual. He has since been removed from active duty in the CDF.
The original Polish may be read at Polonia Christiana:
Statement on Father Krzysztof Charamsa:
In connection with the communique issued by the Holy See Press Office concerning the declaration of Fr. Krzysztof Charamsa and his statements to the media contrary to the Scriptures and teachings of the Catholic Church, whereas according to the norms of the Code of Canon Law, Fr. Krzysztof Charamsa has been admonished by the Reverend Bishop of Pelplin to return to the way of Christ's priesthood.
At the same time the Bishop of Pelplin asks all priests and the faithful to pray for this intention.
Signed,
Fr. Ireneusz SmagliĆski, spokesman for the Bishop of Pelplin

This is the first step in the Canonical process. Mercy. After this, it won't end well for him.
ReplyDeleteIf it results in his repentance, as is intended, it will end very well indeed.
DeleteUnless, of course, Monsignor sees the errors of his ways and publicly repents, and then returns to the way of Christ's priesthood.
DeleteWe can hope, right?
Is Bishop Kazyna his ordinary? If so, thank God someone's on this.
ReplyDeleteIt is not conceivable that this is the first member of clergy within the Catholic Church that is a practicing gay man? Rather this than the multiple rapes committed upon children and the cover ups that have been done by higher authorities with The Church. It is only to look upon the last pope to see this example. Furthermore, as most clergy within the Church have used an incorrect interpretation of Hebrew scriptures for a reason against homosexuality, the politics of the this sexual denunciation becomes evident. It is only being schooled in the Holy language of Hebrew, the writings of the rabbis thru Gamara and Mishnah that one can understand the level of each phrase of the One True Text that this radical denunciation of the Catholic Church has based it's hatred of homosexuals upon. The Catholic Church was a radical offshoot from the teachings of Jesus, the Jew. The Church has become a depository of interpretations of those who wish to gain power through an organized religion. Gentlemen, go learn before you condemn. ALWAYS question anyone's authority who comes from a place of darkness and hatred. It would be best served for you to go and help those in need of help rather than to waste time casting judgment. Have you done any good by these words? Has kindness come from your heart? And of this the Catholic Church is made. Life is short. Know good by doing good. Is this what it means for a Catholic to be charitable? Invoke God's name only for blessing. Blessings to you for an open heart - all the rest is commentary.
ReplyDelete"Anonyomous" is way off base. The media presents this as "homohobia", but it's nothing of the sort. If the scenario had been "This is my girlfriend -- we're sexually involved and I think the Church should change its teaching on sexual matters to accept this," the results would have been exactly the same: losing his CDF gig and receiving the admonition from his Ordinary. It's not because he is gay, but because he is in a sexual relationship with someone and has gone public with it. The media would like it to be "anti-gay", but it's about this narcissistic man, an ordained clergyman, publicly breaking his vow/promise of chastity.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous talks like the Church has not known Hebrew for 2000+ years. Very funny. I doubt he knows any but that is irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous' thinking IS the problem in the Church, the reason the sodomite scandals proliferated and prospered for so long. I wish I could say that his is a minority opinion; in the long history of the Church, of course this kind of false mercy was an aberration. But today, and especially with the encouragement of clerics caught up in this degrading vice, it has become commonplace among Catholics in the pews. Reading post like that of anonymous, we come to see that these people have a hard time even admitting any longer that sodomic practices are seriously sinful. What I see as the pope's loose talk of mercy accompanied almost never by references to justice, will only spread more widely this spiritual disease. It may not be -- probably is not -- his intention to foster such error, but it can clearly be traced to his door.
