Is the Pope Catholic?

The Times of London published a startling item today, revealing that Pope John Paul II was in fact Catholic. We greet this news with great joy and anxiously await the day when dissenters, rebels and revolutionaries of all stripes reach the same conclusion about Pope Francis.
CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS: August 11, 2015

Karol Wojtyla was referred to in Saturday’s Credo column as “the first non-Catholic pope for 450 years”. This should, of course, have read “non-Italian”. We apologise for the error.

  1. I, for my part, can state openly that the Pope is indeed Catholic.

  2. There is a strange set of Catholics online who call themselves sedevacanists, and they don't believe Pope John Paul II is Catholic. In fact they don't think we've had a valid pope since Pius XII, I believe. I kinda like them. But, of course, I don't agree with them. God bless you. Susan Fox www.christsfaithfulwitness.com

P.S. Some of them have never read a papal document since Pius XII, which accounts for their ignorance.

  3. At best, Francis is a thelogical Catholic and nothing more.

  4. Francis is validly elected as are the rest, and that is all that's necessary. Susan Fox www.christsfaithfulwitness.com

We believe in a good argument. That means NO ad hominem attacks. This also includes Pope Francis. Further, referring to him by any other name, may or may not indicate a schismatic attitude, and given the confusion in the Church your comment will NOT be published. Comments are those of the commentators and not those of this blog. You may use a pseudonym... we do... Behave like a guest in our living room and you will be fine.
