Should Christians bring lawsuits against each other? "Absolutely not"

The Holy Bible provides us with instruction for living the Christian life. The greatest commandment given  by Our Blessed Lord is that we "love one another".  The following is from a protestant website. If they can get it right, why can't we, as Catholics, as members of Christ's One, True Church?

The apostle Paul instructed the Corinthian believers to not  to court against one another (1 Corinthians 6:1-8). For Christians not to forgive each other and reconcile their own differences is to demonstrate spiritual defeat. Why would someone want to become a Christian if Christians have just as many problems and are just as incapable of solving them?...

Paul further declares, “Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?” (1 Corinthians 6:7). The thing Paul is concerned with here is the testimony of the believer. It would be far better for us to be taken advantage of, or even abused, than it would be for us to push a person even further away from Christ by taking him/her to court. Which is more important—a legal battle or the battle for a person’s eternal soul? In summary, should Christians take each other to court over church matters? Absolutely not! Should Christians take each other to court over civil matters? If it can in any way be avoided, no...

  1. This is the crux of the problem with Fr. Thomas Rosica's threatened lawsuit against orthodox Catholic Blogger Vox Cantoris.

Catholic people argue with me when I quote 1Cor 6:1-8, and tell me Fr. Rosica has every right to sue David Domet. By whose authority? Is Fr. Rosica's authority greater than St. Paul's? And if that's the way Catholic prelates are supposed to respond to alleged defamation, then why isn't Pope Francis suing the world. He has been widely misinterpreted and defamed as well. But he cheerfully keeps doing his job!

And when did the Catholic Church decide to ignore its own Bible? What about the scandal Fr. Rosica is creating by threatening a Catholic family man in this matter. Frankly I'm sorry to say I thought the excessive coverage of Fr. Rosica before this incident was excessive, but now I think it's not even enough. Let him resign. We believe in a good argument. That means NO ad hominem attacks. This also includes Pope Francis. Further, referring to him by any other name, may or may not indicate a schismatic attitude, and given the confusion in the Church your comment will NOT be published. Comments are those of the commentators and not those of this blog. You may use a pseudonym... we do... Behave like a guest in our living room and you will be fine.
